What a moment last night was for the Houston Texans.
With a rookie quarterback and a first-year head coach, no one was giving the Texans a chance in 2023… And with good reason!
Houston was coming off a season in which they finished with a 3-13-1 record, which was second-worst in the entire NFL. They did manage to pick up a new franchise quarterback in CJ Stroud with the second-overall pick. And they added some interesting, young pieces around him during the draft and through free agency. But no one could have expected this team to emerge as a playoff contender.
And yet, that’s exactly what they did.
Needing a win against the Indianapolis Colts in order to secure a spot in the postseason, the Texans got the job done, beating their division rivals by a score of 23-19.
And afterwards, the celebration was as crazy as you’d expect it to be.
As cameras followed Stroud and head coach DeMeco Ryans into the locker room, you could see the players greet their two leaders by showering them with water and chanting loudly.

This is what it’s all about.
The Texans will now await the result of today’s Jaguars-Titans matchup to figure out if they’ll be hosting a playoff game next week as the AFC South champs, or going on the road as a wild card team.
Either way, they’ll be hoping that this is just the beginning of their Cinderella run.
