The Houston Texans are now just one more loss away from securing the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft…and boy can they ever use it!
The Texans currently sit at 2-13-1 on the season. As long as they lose to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday—or if the Chicago Bears beat the Minnesota Vikings—the most coveted pick in the draft is theirs.
Even if the Bears somehow snatch the first overall pick from the Texans in the last week of the season, unless Chicago decided to trade it to a QB-needy team, the Texans should still have their choice of quarterbacks from an impressive 2023 draft class. And according to reports, all signs appear to be pointing to them taking Alabama Crimson Tide signal caller Bryce Young.
Young, along with Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, Kentucky’s Will Levis, and Florida’s Anthony Richardson are all expected to during the first half of the first round in April. But it’s Young who has appears to have the edge over Stroud on the draft boards of most teams and experts.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Young has a Heisman Trophy and a College Football Championship along with several other awards on his impressive college resume. He also possesses that coveted dual-threat style that NFL teams drool over these days, as he’s bother an accurate passer and a very elusive runner.
