NFL fans are loving the Tennessee Titans’ field re-design for the club’s upcoming Week 8 home contest against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Titans will be wearing the Houston Oilers’ throwback uniforms for Sunday’s contest at Nissan Stadium. The football franchise was previously based in Houston, where they played from 1960 to ’96 before relocating to Nashville in 1997.
Paying homage to the franchise’s original roots, the Titans re-designed the Nissan Stadium field that features Oilers’ logo at midfield with “Oilers” written in both end zones:
Needless to say, fans on social media were absolutely loving the re-design of the playing surface for Sunday’s game.

After relocating to Nashville in 1997, the football team retained the “Oilers” name for two years before switching the name and logo to “Titans” in 1999. The organization went on to reach its first ever Super Bowl that year, losing to the St. Louis Rams in the big game.
The Oilers’ relocation to Music City was devastating for the loyal and passionate sports fans in Houston, but they wouldn’t have to wait long for a new football team. In 2002, the Houston Texans were introduced as the 32nd NFL franchise.
Mike Vrabel’s Titans have dropped four of their first six games, including three of their last four. After hosting the 4-3 Falcons on Saturday, the Titans will travel to Pittsburgh on a short week for a Thursday night contest against the Steelers.
