Arizona Cardinals receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is preparing for his second season with the team this summer.
Arizona is in a brutal stretch as they lost quarterback Kyler Murray for the remainder of the 2022 season and the subsequent foreseeable future when he tore his ACL in December.
The Cardinals’ offense has undergone a bit of a shift, so Brown was asked if he was concerned about his new role. That is when he seemed to take a shot at the Baltimore Ravens and their run-heavy system.
“Not really because, I mean, I played in Baltimore,” Brown said with a smile on his face. “I played in Baltimore … so when I met with these guys, they told me their philosophies and thought process. I said, ‘I can work with that.’ We need something as a team that we can thrive in,” he added.
The Baltimore Ravens traded wide receiver Marquise Brown during the 2022 draft in exchange for a first-round pick. He had expressed displeasure with his role in Baltimore, and subsequently asked to be traded, which was granted.
After playing his first three seasons with the Ravens, Brown joined the Cardinals a year ago and caught 67 passes for 709 yards and three touchdowns in Kliff Kingsbury’s pass-heavy offense. He averaged 10.6 yards per catch.

With a new coach and new scheme, it will be interesting to see whether Brown can put up similar numbers or even numbers from the 2021 season where he caught 91 passes for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.
It remains his only 1,000-yard season of his young career. It is certainly going to be harder since DeAndre Hopkins is not taking up space and is in Tennessee now.
Brown played with Kyler Murray in college at Oklahoma, and they were able to reunite in Arizona last season. It remains to be seen when they can reunite in 2023.
