Hershel Walker responded on Tuesday night when asked about gun control in the wake of a shooter killing 21 people, including 19 children, at an Uvalde, Texas, elementary school.
His response was incoherent.
“What we need to do is look into how we can stop those things,” Walker said. “They talk about doing disinformation. What about getting a department that can look at young men that’s looking at women that’s looking at social media. What about doing things like that? We can stop it that way.”
Walker continued: “They just want to continue talking about taking away your constitutional rights. This has been happening for years, and the way we stop it is by putting money into the mental health field.”
Walker is best known for his Heisman Award-winning turn at the University of Georgia, followed by his career in the NFL. After football, he has since pledged his allegiance to Trump and embarked on a political career.
He received a ringing endorsement from Trump and it now has him as the frontrunner to land the nomination.
