Herm Edwards is one of many people who came away confused as to why the Dallas Cowboys’ Twitter account disrespected Dak Prescott.
After the 49ers defeated the Cowboys 19-12 on Sunday to advance to the NFC Championship game, the Cowboys’ Twitter account threw Prescott under the bus.
“Dak Prescott gave away the ball twice in the narrow loss to the 49ers, in a matchup the Cowboys had a chance to win if they didn’t again generate self-inflicted wounds,” the tweet read.
Edwards appeared on ESPN’s “This Just In” and stated how it rubbed him the wrong way.
“What I want to say, I can’t say on-air cause I’m a good Catholic man and I won’t go there with it. But I will say this, that’s unfortunate, it really is,” Edwards ranted on Max Kellerman’s This Just In. “You’re entitled to your opinion, but this thing is called team. The former NFL and college head coach continued:
“This is a little bit of the Dallas Cowboys problem,” Edwards continued. “It’s always someone else’s fault. Let me place the blame on one person, cause it’s not about us as a football team.”
If you clicked the link in the post, it went to an article about Prescott taking responsibility for the loss. He did throw two interceptions which likely should’ve been more with a terrible pass in the fourth quarter that was almost taken back for a pick-6.
A team openly trashing their own star quarterback is not the way to go.
Prescott signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the Cowboys in the 2021 offseason. There is no way they can move on from him this offseason as his deal includes nearly $90 million in dead cap money in 2023.
