A prison sentence for former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was announced on Wednesday morning, with the 24-year-old sentenced for his involvement in the fatal crash that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor.
Ruggs, who previously pleaded guilty to driving at 156 mph while under the influence at the time of the crash in November of 2021, has been sentenced to 3-10 years in prison per the stipulation of his plea deal, according to Caroline Bleakley of 8 News Now.
Bleakley’s report also notes:
“Ruggs who was initially charged with DUI resulting in death, DUI resulting in bodily harm, two counts of reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, and possession of a firearm while under the influence, was offered a plea deal which reduced the charges to DUI resulting in death and a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.”
His attorney, David Chesnoff, noted that the former wideout is taking full responsibility for the collision that left both Tina and her dog dead, having produced a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit.
Ruggs has said that his guilty plea and the resulting sentence will help him heal while apologizing to Tintor’s family, insisting his actions on the night aren’t a true reflection of who he is.
