The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most popular teams in the NFL. Some consider them the most popular; the numbers don’t lie. They are pretty famous, and it seems as though that may help them acquire Heismann front-runner Ashton Jeanty.
Jeanty is one of the best college football players, if not the best. While he may be considered a luxury pick if he were to be drafted higher in the draft, there’s no doubt that the Cowboys wouldn’t mind a solid running back, and Jeanty would be that.
The Cowboys may just get their wish. According to Football Forever on X, the Boise State star mentioned the Dallas Cowboys as one of the teams he would like to play for. “I would be a hometown hero,” claimed the Bronco.
Jeanty is currently averaging a more than solid 9.9 yards per carry in 2024, which is just under the combined 10.2 average yards per carry of Rico Dowdle, Ezekiel Elliott, and Deuce Vaughn, all three of Dallas’ running backs.
Ashton Jeanty Would Be An Upgrade At Running Back For The Dallas Cowboys
Jeanty is currently in his third season with the Boise State Broncos, and his numbers across all three seasons are mind-boggling. He’s accumulated over 3400 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns on just 502 attempts.

Dallas currently sits third in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders. Their 3-3 record has seen many ups and downs, with their last game being a 47-to-9 blowout loss to the Detroit Lions.
Jeanty is currently a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft consensus and ESPN projects Dallas to draft with the fourteenth overall pick. If the Cowboys do indeed finish in the middle of the draft board, could we see a trade happen so they can scoop up Jeanty?
