It’s looking more and more like the Atlanta Falcons could come out of all this as the winners of the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes. And if that’s the case, it begs the question, what happens to Matt Ryan?
After seemingly trailing the Saints in their bid for Watson, the Falcons suddenly appear to be the frontrunners, with a decision to come any day now.
One big hint that the Falcons have pulled out front is the fact that they have postponed Matt Ryan’s roster bonus until Tuesday (it was supposed to kick in today). It has many believing that he could be dealt over the weekend in order for Atlanta to make room for Watson.
And the one destination that seems to be the most likely for Ryan at the moment is the quarterback-needy Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts seem to be connected to any and every available quarterback (besides Watson) at the moment. You’d have to think they would want someone who’s proven, given the “win-now” state of the rest of their roster right now.
Ryan hasn’t looked good at all over the last few years, but some of that can be attributed to the roster around him in Atlanta (which makes you wonder why Watson would want to go there, but I digress…). Is he really an upgrade over Carson Wentz at this point in his career? We’ll see if the Colts are willing to take a chance and find out.
