Rob Gronkowski had a hilarious reaction to Tom Brady and his actions during the Super Bowl parade. One of the most viral moments was when Brady tossed the Lombardi Trophy between boats during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ victory parade.
“That is how you celebrate a Super Bowl because he celebrated six other times. So you gotta step it up a little bit when you’re at a parade,” Gronkowski told Kyle Brandt on The Ringer’s “10 Questions” podcast. “And this is a boat parade and he wanted all his teammates – because he’s a good team player – he wants all his teammates involved and he’s held that trophy many times.
“So he’s like, ‘Man, I want my teammates to hold the trophy that never held it before.’ So that’s why he tossed it to (Cameron Brate).”
In the aftermath of the incident, the daughter of the Lombardi Trophy designer criticized Brady’s toss, calling it an insult to her family’s legacy.
Gronk thought Brady should’ve stepped up his antics even more.
“He should’ve been more wasted, actually. I wish he got carried to the hospital and got some IVs in him,” Gronkowski said. “No, I’m talking like total survival mode, but just like a little too carried away because then I could’ve been like, ‘Tom, man. You’re partying too much, you gotta stop.’ Like he used to say to me back in the day.”
