If things weren’t tense enough between the NFL and the NFLPA already,t looks like things could get even uglier between the two parties
According to Mark Maske of The Washington Post, the league “filed a grievance against the NFLPA last week.” Per Maske, the grievance alleges that the union advised “as a contract-negotiating tactic with teams.”
The NFLPA quickly denied the accusations, calling them “ridiculous and without merit”, Maske added.
NFL clubs’ refusals to pay big money to big-named running backs was well-documented throughout the summer. 2022 rushing champion Josh Jacobs (Las Vegas Raiders), Saquon Barkley (New York Giants) and Tony Pollard (Dallas Cowboys) were all assigned the franchise tag by their respective teams, but neither received a multi-year extension.

Indianapolis Colts’ superstar and 2021 rushing champion Jonathan Taylor asked for a trade after a meeting with Jim Irsay back in July, when it became clear that the team wouldn’t sign him to a new deal. Taylor is in the final year of his rookie contract.
Austin Ekeler of the Los Angeles Chargers sought a trade earlier this offseason, but the two sides reached a compromise when the Bolts added incentives to the final year of his deal.
As well, two-time rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott and four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook were released by the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings, respectively. Both spent several months on the open market before finding new teams, with Elliott joining the New England Patriots and Cook heading to the New York Jets.
