Greg Olsen will be handing his job to Tom Brady next season, but he’s gotten some major recognition ahead of the switch.
The former NFL tight end is being demoted to FOX’s B team to the tune of a $7 million loss and will step down as the network’s lead in-game commentator, with Brady to take over.
Still, he will be heading down with hardware that shows he’s one of the best broadcast analysts in football.
On Tuesday night, Olsen won this year’s Sports Emmy for Outstanding Personality/Event Analyst, beating some top names, including Troy Aikman, Cris Collinsworth, Bill Raftery, John Smoltz, and Tom Verducci.
The Sports Emmy is Olsen’s first and has solidified his reputation as one of the best in the game ahead of an unwelcome career change.

Greg Olsen Isn’t Leaving FOX, At Least Not Right Now
Tom Brady, who’s landed a 10-year deal worth $375 million with the network, has some big shoes to fill. While he’s considered the Greatest of all Time, having won seven Super Bowls, he’s set to enter a different arena that could present a huge learning curve.
Although NFL fans are likely looking forward to hearing him call games, losing Olen’s expertise in the No. 1 spot could diminish the quality of FOX’s broadcasts.
The former tight end has said he will remain with FOX for the time being but he could be lured away to another network because he still wants to call big games.
“I want to get back to calling Super Bowls and NFC championship games and the premier matchups of every week like I have done the last two years,” he told the Charlotte Observer earlier this year. “And we’ll see what opportunities arise to try to make that a reality.”
