Rumor has it the Green Bay Packers sent a strong trade offer to the Indianapolis Colts for Jonathan Taylor.
According to rumors, Green Bay had offered a package of AJ Dillon and a 3rd round pick for the disgruntled Running Back. Though a strong offer, the Colt reportedly sent a counter offer of Dillon, Christian Watson and a 1st round pick. The Packers obviously backed out and doubt how serious the Colts are about trading Taylor.
Though the Packers are wise about backing out, the move itself is intriguing, since it gives the Packers a dynamic offensive runner to pair with new starting Quarterback Jordan Love. Even after losing long time starter Aaron Rodgers, the Packers see a chance to win a rebuilding division in the NFC North, with the biggest threat being the Detroit Lions.
The Colts are looking for major package in return for Taylor, though his value apparently isn’t high enough to warrant a maximum contract for the Running Back. Taylor, 24, wants a max contract, but the Colts are refusing to make the deal, leading to the current situation.
Though Green Bay sent a great package to the Colts, their rebuff is more proof that the team isn’t willing to trade the young star. The idea that he’s valuable enough to sit and trade for a ridiculously high return but not enough to pay is ridiculous. Either pay Taylor or let him go.
