It appears the Green Bay Packers are reversing course on what they want to do with Aaron Rodgers.
With Rodgers’ football future still very much a question mark, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel recently reported how “at one point late last year, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told an NFL colleague he was convinced it was time the organization move on from” the 39-year-old quarterback and “see what [third-year quarterback] Jordan Love had in him.”
Those feelings have changed this week. The Packers would like to have Rodgers back, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com said during a Rich Eisen Show appearance.
The Broncos were the team most closely tied to Rodgers since his trade request became public, but Pelissero adds they would not have sent the Packers the haul they gave the Seahawks because of the uncertainty surrounding Rodgers’ future.
Rodgers, who has spent the entirety of his NFL career in Green Bay, did not have the best season in 2022 as the Packers missed the playoffs and finish the year at 8-9.
Rodgers spoke earlier this month about his plans to embark on a four-day darkness retreat as a decision about his future looms, but it was also reported that the team was ready to move on from him.

Rodgers would not be thrust into a quarterback competition if he opted to stay in Green Bay. Jordan Love, who was selected by the team in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, was expected to take over, but it appears he may either return to the bench or be traded.
