The surging Green Bay Packers are adding another weapon to bolster their offense and push to the postseason.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Packers have signed veteran running back Kenyan Drake to their practice squad. The 29-year-old speedster was on the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns earlier this season.
Drake appeared in two games for the Ravens this year before joining the Packers, though he saw just one carry and three targets (two receptions) in those contests.
Drake had his best season back in 2020 as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, rushing for 955 yards and 10 touchdowns to go along with 25 receptions for 137 receiving yards. He also exceeded 1,000 yards from scrimmage with the Miami Dolphins in 2018 and in 2019, split with the Dolphins and Cardinals.
The Alabama product joins a Green Bay club that has won three straight games, vaulting them into the NFC’s final playoff berth at 6-6. With a dynamic rushing duo in A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones, it remains to be seen how much playing time Drake will get with the Pack if he gets promoted to the 53-man roster.
For his career, Drake has 3,866 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns to go along with 218 receptions for 1,655 receiving yards and eight rushing scores.
