As the Green Bay Packers await a decision from quarterback Aaron Rodgers over his playing future, the organization reportedly knows what they want to do.
Rodgers has gone on a darkness retreat to clear his mind with the hope of coming to the decision on his playing future. There are three options on the table for the four-time MVP: Return to Green Bay, get traded to a new team or retirement.
According to a report from Bob McGinn of GoLongTD.com (h/t Zac Wassink of Yardbarker), Green Bay has “all but moved on from” Rodgers. McGinn also stated that the organization is “more confident than ever to start Jordan Love.”
Rodgers requested a trade from the Packers ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft. The two sides managed to make amends, and Rodgers returned to win his fourth MVP award in the 2021 season.
But after missing the playoffs for the first time in four years, the Packers appear to be at crossroads. Does the organization think a 39-year-old QB gives them the best chance to win long-term? Does A-Rod view these Packers as a bonafide championship contender?
So many questions, but very few answers. Rodgers has given no firm timeline on a decision over his playing future, but once it comes, it’ll surely change the landscape of the NFL one way or another.
