Well, you can scratch one team off the list of potential trade destinations for Aaron Rodgers, according to the Green Bay Packers’ signal-caller himself.
Rodgers is competing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament. As the 39-year-old was preparing to tee off, Rodgers was asked if he wanted to share any news. Rodgers simply stated, “I’m not going to San Fran.”
The four-time league MVP has been the subject of trade rumors since the Packers’ heartbreaking Week 18 home loss to the Detroit Lions which ended their postseason hopes. Rodgers still hasn’t committed to playing football in 2023, and if he does? There’s growing speculation that it will be in another uniform.
Over the weekend, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that some sources think the Packers actually prefer to move on from the future Hall of Famer.
The 49ers already have two promising young quarterbacks in Brock Purdy, who led them to the NFC Championship Game, and 2021 third overall pick Trey Lance. Whether or not GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan would even have interest in Rodgers at this point is anybody’s guess, but at any rate, A-Rod himself has made it clear that a move to the west coast isn’t in the cards.

Without superstar Davante Adams, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason, Rodgers and the Green Bay offense struggled with consistency throughout the year. He completed 64.6 percent of pass attempts for just 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as Green Bay suffered its first losing season since 2018.
