Well, you don’t see this every day: Two brothers being released from their respective contract within a span of a few hours.
The Philadelphia Eagles released cornerback Greedy Williams on Saturday morning, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Just a few hours later, New York Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll announced that they were releasing Greedy’s brother, Rodarius Williams, via ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
The Cleveland Browns drafted Greedy in the second round (46th overall) back in 2019. He was a star cornerback at LSU, earning First-team All-SEC selections in 2017 and 2018 and Consensus All-American honors in the latter year.
Unfortunately, injuries derailed Greedy’s tenure with the Browns. He was limited to 39 games over his four-year tenure with the club, missing the entire 2020 campaign with a shoulder injury.
Greedy’s best season with the Browns came in 2021, when he made eight starts and finished with two interceptions, 10 pass defenses and one forced fumble. The Browns opted not to bring him back after his rookie deal expired, and Greedy wound up signing with the Eagles in March.
