The NFL regular season is finally back! As the 2024 season is underway, we at TPS are very excited to see the league’s most impressive pass catchers, like Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and A.J. Brown, to name a few, have very productive seasons. However, sometimes the wide receivers need to up their game after a slow week one. Hopefully, they find a way to step it up in week two.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ starting wide receivers after week one.
Who are the top wide receivers in the NFL in week one of the games?
Arizona Cardinals: Greg Dortch: D+
If there was one blemish from the Cardinals’ 28-34 collapse to the Buffalo Bills, it was the lack of attention in the passing attack. Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. had one reception for four yards, as Murray threw 10 costly incompletions, including missing a wide-open Harrison Jr. when he had a chance to possibly change the outcome of the game. Greg Dortch led the Cardinals in receiving yards, scoring 47 yards from six receptions, and Michael Wilson caught one reception for five yards and a touchdown. The Cardinals need to drastically get their passing attack going as the season continues, especially in week two when the Los Angeles Rams come to town.
Atlanta Falcons: Ray-Ray McCloud III: D+
Week one was not the best day for the Falcons’ wide receivers, as they were all held to under 60 receiving yards. Ray-Ray McCloud III caught four receptions for 52 yards, while Darnell Mooney caught one reception for 15 yards. Tight end Kyle Pitts scored his first touchdown of the season at the tail end of the second quarter. The Falcons need to bounce back from this loss immediately otherwise all of the work they accomplished in the offseason will be for nothing.
Baltimore Ravens: Rashod Bateman: C

The Ravens’ receiver depth had a somewhat quiet night outside of Isaiah Likely (who is a tight end). Rashod Bateman caught two receptions for 53 yards, and Zay Flowers caught six receptions for 37 yards. Jackson did throw some annoying incompletions during the game, which should’ve been caught. The Likely catch, which many thought was the game-tying or ending touchdown, was overturned due to his toe on the line. The Ravens’ receivers will rebound from this game and haul in more passes.
Buffalo Bills: Keon Coleman: C
The Bills may have won from behind 34-28, but the main offensive look, so far, is in their running game, as opposed to the passing attack. Keon Coleman caught four receptions for 51 yards, Khalil Shakir caught three receptions for 42 yards and scored a touchdown, and Mack Hollins caught two receptions for 25 yards and scored a touchdown. Losing Stefon Diggs in the offseason is going to hurt long-term, but the Bills can make up for it with Josh Allen’s leadership and his way to win games.
Carolina Panthers: Adam Thielen: D
Despite the Panthers being humiliated on the road, Adam Thielen had a somewhat nice game, stat-wise. Thielen caught three receptions for 49 yards. Other than that, the rest of the Panthers need to regroup, or just tank for the rest of the season, for the coveted first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Chicago Bears: DJ Moore: D
The Bears may have come from behind and secured the 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans, but their receiving core was almost nonexistent, and no one scored an offensive touchdown. DJ Moore caught five receptions for 36 yards. Keenan Allen caught four receptions for 29 yards but was limited due to a heel injury. Additionally, he had a rest day for the teams’ practice as the Bears got prepared for their Sunday Night showdown against the Houston Texans in week two. The Bears are going to need to step it up in the passing attack if they want to earn more wins moving forward.
Cincinnati Bengals: Ja’Marr Chase: C-
Despite the sloppy play from Joe Burrow, the Bengals, receiving depth, had an okay afternoon. Ja’Marr Chase caught six receptions for 62 yards, but the other wide receivers and tight ends on the roster weren’t able to top 30 yards. Andrei Iosvias had the second most receiving yards, with 26 yards in three receptions. It also didn’t help the Bengals that Tee Higgins was out with a hamstring injury and is very likely going to miss the team’s week two matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Higgins needs to get healthy.
Cleveland Browns: Jerry Jeudy: C-
Despite the Browns getting dropped by the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jeudy had a decent debut for the Browns. Jeudy caught three receptions for 25 yards and scored a receiving touchdown. Although the Browns are a bit of a mess, Jeudy should be able to score some points and give the Browns some forward momentum, which he wasn’t able to do in Denver.
Dallas Cowboys: CeeDee Lamb: B-
CeeDee Lamb and the Cowboys began their season with a 33-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Lamb caught five receptions for 61 yards but didn’t score any touchdowns. His teammate, Brandin Cooks, scored a touchdown in the Cowboys victory. Lamb will have another productive season as the competition heats up in this young 2024 season.
Denver Broncos: Josh Reynolds: D
Not a good afternoon for the Broncos receiving core, but it could’ve been worse. Josh Reynolds led the Broncos in receiving yards, as he had 45 yards on five receptions. Reynolds and the rest of the Broncos wide receivers and tight ends need to step it up and get some points on the board. Otherwise, it’s going to be a low, long season in the Mile High City. It is painfully clear that the Broncos should’ve kept Tim Patrick, who is healthy now after missing two straight injury-plagued seasons.
Detroit Lions: Jameson Williams: A-
Jameson Williams had a very strong night in the Lions season opener, as they defeated the Los Angeles Rams 26-20 in overtime. Williams caught five receptions for 121 yards and scored a touchdown. Williams and the Lions are setting themselves up for another successful year, as they have their eyes set on returning to the NFC Championship game and potentially getting over that hump and reaching the team’s first Super Bowl appearance. We’ll just wait and see what happens.
Green Bay Packers: Jayden Reed: B
Despite a sloppy first quarter and coming up short against the Philadelphia Eagles 29-34, the Packers’ wide receivers had a solid game. Jayden Reed had an excellent night with four receptions for 138 yards, scored a receiving touchdown, rushed for 33 yards on one carry, and scored a rushing touchdown. Christian Watson had a quiet night with 13 receiving yards. His patience paid off, as he was able to score a touchdown in the game. From the look of this game, Reed is going to have a strong season with the Packers, with Watson being a solid number two wide receiver on the roster.
Houston Texans: Nico Collins: B+
Collins had an impressive week one, as he and the Texans defeated the Indianapolis Colts 29-27. Collins caught six receptions for 117 but didn’t score any touchdowns. Stefon Diggs managed to score two touchdowns in his Texans debut. If Collins has a similar season to what he had in 2023, he could potentially become a Pro Bowler or become a playoff hero, depending on how the Texans do for the season.
Indianapolis Colts: Alec Pierce: B+
Despite the Colts getting dropped 27-29 to the Houston Texans, Alec Pierce had a very productive afternoon. Pierce caught three receptions for 125 yards and scored a touchdown. Pierce’s teammate Ashton Dullin scored a touchdown, while Michael Pittman Jr. caught four receptions for 31 yards. Pierce showed he could be a very talented number two wide receiver for Anthony Richardson to work with, as the Colts have their sights on returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Gabe Davis: C
The former Buffalo Bill had a good week one performance despite the Jaguars getting defeated 17-20 by the Miami Dolphins. Davis caught three receptions for 62 yards while Brian Thomas Jr. scored the team’s only receiving touchdown. Davis should play well in Duval County as a number two wide receiver for the Jags, but it’s hard to tell if he’ll replicate Calvin Ridley’s production from 2023. Ridley is now a Tennessee Titan.
Kansas City Chiefs: Xavier Worthy: B+
Despite having wide receiver problems in the 2023 season, outside of Travis Kelce, the Chiefs receivers had a solid game in their week one opener. Rashee Rice caught seven receptions for 103 yards, but Xavier Worthy stole the show, as he scored a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown. The Chiefs’ drafting Worthy in the first round is going to pay massive dividends down the road, as he has the speed and agility similar to Tyreek Hill.
Las Vegas Raiders: Jakobi Meyers: C-
It was a rough afternoon for the Raiders, but Jakobi Meyers had a decent day of production. Meyers caught three receptions for 61 yards and rushed for three yards on one carry. Meyers is still a great number-two wide receiver who will score his eventual first touchdown of the 2024 season. However, it would be a lot better if Meyers and Davante Adams had a true starting quarterback throwing them the ball. No disrespect to Gardner Minshew.
Los Angeles Chargers: Ladd McConkey: C-
Even with the Chargers’ victory, Ladd McConkey had only an all-right game. McConkey caught five receptions for 39 yards and scored a touchdown. McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and the rest of the Chargers receiver depth need to work on their passing attack. With Keenan Allen no longer an asset, they need to step it up if they want to stay relevant in the AFC West.
Los Angeles Rams: Cooper Kupp: B+
After missing part of the 2023 season with a hamstring injury, Cooper Kupp went to work despite the Rams losing 20-26 in overtime to the Detroit Lions. Kupp caught 14 receptions for 110 yards and scored a touchdown in the game. Kupp looks to be having the start of what could be a very strong 2024 season. He will hopefully make it to his first Pro Bowl since 2021 and much more, with the Rams eying the NFC West Championship.
Miami Dolphins: Tyreek Hill: A-
Tyreek Hill had a very productive afternoon as he and the Dolphins mounted a comeback and defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-17. Hill caught seven receptions for 130 yards and scored an 80-yard touchdown. If anyone is going to have a very strong 2024 season as a wideout, you can count on Hill, who will have another strong season in South Beach.
Minnesota Vikings: Justin Jefferson: B-
Justin Jefferson may not have J.J. McCarthy throwing him the ball, but he has Sam Darnold in his place as he and the Vikings secured the 28-6 victory over the woeful New York Giants. Jefferson caught four receptions for 59 yards and scored a touchdown. Regardless of whoever the Vikings have under center, you can always count on Jefferson having a very productive season. We just hope Jefferson can make some memorable catches in the playoffs if the Vikings qualify.
New England Patriots: Austin Hooper: D
The Patriots may have stunned the Cincinnati Bengals 16-10, but the passing attack wasn’t there. Austin Hooper led the Pats with four receptions for 31 yards, and Tyquan Thorton caught two receptions for 27 yards. The Pats are under a new regime, as Bill Belichick is gone, and they will find their groove as a young underdog team with a lot to prove.
New Orleans Saints: Rashid Shaheed: A-
Rashid Shaheed and the Saints made quick work of the woeful Carolina Panthers in their 47-10 victory. Shaheed caught three receptions for 73 yards and scored a touchdown on the afternoon. Shaheed had a solid 2023 season. Hopefully, the third-year wideout/ kick returner can build upon his Pro Bowl season in 2023 and earn himself his first 1,000-receiving-yard season in the league. We’ll just wait and see what happens.
New York Giants: Malik Nabers: C-
Despite the Giants getting humiliated at home, Nabers had an okay game in his Giants’ debut. Nabers caught five receptions for 66 yards on the day. Nabers will be a good receiver in the league, but the Giants need to divorce themselves from Daniel Jones and get Nabers a far better quarterback if they want to unlock his true potential.
New York Jets: Allen Lazard: B-
Despite the 19-32 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Allen Lazard had a very productive game for the Jets now that Aaron Rodgers is healthy again. Lazard caught six receptions for 89 yards and scored two touchdowns on the night. If Lazard continues to play like this and not drop key passes, he should have a very good year with Gang Green now that Aaron Rodgers is back in the lineup as quarterback.
Philadelphia Eagles: A.J. Brown: A-
After a sloppy first quarter in Brazil, the Eagles’ wide receivers played a great game and won 34-29. A.J. Brown caught five receptions for 119 yards and scored a touchdown, and DeVonta Smith caught seven receptions for 84 yards and scored a touchdown. Both Brown and Smith played great and look to have a very electric 2024 season as the Eagles look to recapture the NFC East for the first time since the 2022 season.
Pittsburgh Steelers: George Pickens: C
The Steelers may have won their week one game against the Atlanta Falcons 18-10, but no one on the Steelers depth chart scored a touchdown. Kicker Chris Boswell made six kicks, and the Falcons imploded in the second half. George Pickens caught six receptions for 85 yards. However, no other Steelers receiver topped 30 yards in the entire game. Tight end Pat Freiermuth caught four receptions for 27 yards. This game showed the Steelers look to be a run-heavy offense, thanks to Justin Fields, Najee Harris, and Russell Wilson, who are great runners, while Pickens shows he’s a reliable pass catcher who can get the job done.
San Francisco 49ers: Deebo Samuel: A-
If there was ever someone who is the Swiss army knife of a football team, that guy is Deebo Samuel. He had an amazing performance in the 49ers’ 32-19 victory over the New York Jets. Samuel caught five receptions for 54 yards, rushed for 23 yards on eight carries, and scored a rushing touchdown. Samuel is one special wide receiver who will cause more mayhem against opposing defenses as the 2024 season progresses. He certainly has his eye on a potential Super Bowl championship for himself and the 49ers after losing it in overtime in the 2023-24 season to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Seattle Seahawks: Tyler Lockett: B-
Tyler Lockett had a solid day for the Seahawks, even if he didn’t score a touchdown in the team’s 26-20 victory over the Denver Broncos. Lockett caught six receptions for 77 yards on the day. Lockett should have another productive season with the Seahawks, as the team has their eyes set on returning to the playoffs for the first time since the 2022 season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Mike Evans: A-
Mike Evans and the Bucs’ had an amazing start to the 2024 season, as they defeated the Washington Commanders 37-20. Evans caught five receptions for 61 yards and scored two touchdowns in the late afternoon. Evans had a great week one and is truly one of the best wide receivers in the league. If he continues to play very well, he’ll be on his way to another Pro Bowl or potentially a playoff spot, depending on how the Bucs finish the 2024 season.
Tennessee Titans: Calvin Ridley: D+
Despite being up 17-3 at halftime, the Titans lost the game 17-24, as the receiving depth couldn’t top 60 yards. Calvin Ridley led the Titans in receiving yards with 50 yards on three receptions, and tight end Chig Okonkwo caught two receptions for 15 yards and scored a touchdown. A major non-factor for the Titans was DeAndre Hopkins, as he caught one reception for eight yards but was limited due to a knee injury. If the Titans don’t improve their passing game, opposing defenses will cover them and painfully return the ball in a humiliating fashion.
Washington Commanders: Luke McCaffrey: D-
Despite coming from a family of athletes, Luke McCaffrey didn’t do much in the Commanders’ 20-37 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. McCaffrey caught three receptions for 18 yards, and that was it. Running back Austin Ekeler led the Commanders in receiving yards with four receptions for 52 yards. Jayden Daniels needs a reliable pass catcher who is fast because McCaffrey and everyone else on the roster aren’t enough.
