Week nine was a wild week for quarterbacks, as they managed to show great leadership on the field and guide their teams to victory.
Some quarterbacks struggled against formidable defenses, while other signal-callers did whatever they could to help their NFL team out despite falling in some very close and painful matches.
Now that the NFL has approached the halfway point, it’s time to see which quarterback will shine in the second half of the 2024 season.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ quarterbacks after week nine.
Which quarterbacks have the highest grades for each NFL team after week 9?
Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray: C
Murray led the Cardinals and the ground game to a very nice 29-9 victory over the Chicago Bears. Murray completed 13 passes for 154 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and was sacked three times and lost a fumble. Murray may not have played his best game, but he managed to not throw an interception and commanded the offense very well against the fierce Bears’ defense. The star NFL quarterback and the Cardinals continue defending home turf in week 10 as they welcome the New York Jets to the desert.
Atlanta Falcons: Kirk Cousins: A-

Cousins had a very nice game for the Falcons, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 27-21. Cousins completed 19 passes for 222 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for negative 11 yards on four carries but was also sacked twice. Cousins continues to lead the Falcons to glory as they maintain control of the NFC South. They now have to get prepared for their week 10 match-up against the New Orleans Saints on the road.
Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson: A-
Lamar Jackson had a tremendous game, as he and the Ravens defeated the Denver Broncos 41-10. Jackson completed 16 passes for 280 yards, threw two touchdowns to Zay Flowers against no interceptions, rushed for four yards on three carries, and was sacked once. The well-known NFL quarterback put together another MVP-like performance against the Broncos and made their defense look like Swiss cheese fresh off the slicer. Jackson and the Ravens stay home for week 10 as they welcome the Cincinnati Bengals to town on Thursday Night Football.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen: A-
Allen had a very nice afternoon as the Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 30-27 in a very competitive AFC East divisional battle. Allen completed 25 passes for 235 yards, threw three touchdowns against an interception, and rushed for seven yards on two carries but was sacked once. Allen looked sharp and poised to potentially lead the Bills to a fifth straight AFC East championship if he continues to play at this MVP-like level. Allen and the Bills have to get prepared for their week 10 match-up against the Indianapolis Colts on the road.
Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young: C+
Young may not be the best quarterback in the NFL, but he continued to show signs of improvement as the Panthers defeated the New Orleans Saints 23-22. Young completed 16 passes for 171 yards, threw a touchdown to Xavier Legette against an interception, rushed for nine yards on four carries, and was sacked only once. Young proved he could play in the league after his week eight performance against the Denver Broncos. He finally led his team to a razor-thin victory over their NFC South rivals. Young and the Panthers travel abroad for week 10 as they take on the New York Giants in Munich, Germany.
Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams: C-
Williams had a somewhat rough afternoon as he and the Bears lost a painful 9-29 battle in the desert against the Arizona Cardinals. Williams completed 22 passes for 217 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and was sacked six times. The Bears drew criticism from CBS Sports Charles Davis as Williams hurt his ankle in the game. Davis said Williams should’ve been taken out of the game in garbage time. Williams said that, after the game, he was fine, but the Bears need to do a better job protecting their rookie signal caller. Williams and company return home for a week 10 showdown against the New England Patriots.
Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow: A-
Burrow played a very strong game as the Bengals defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 41-24. Burrow completed 27 passes for 251 yards, threw five touchdowns against an interception by Jack Jones, which turned into a 29-yard pick-six, rushed for 11 yards on three carries, and was sacked only once. Despite the one interception, Burrow was on point, as he picked the Raiders’ defense apart in a much-needed victory for the Bengals. Burrow and the Bengals move forward as they prepare for their week 10 match-up against the Baltimore Ravens on the road in prime time.

Cleveland Browns: Jameis Winston: D
What a difference a week makes! Jameis Winston had a very painful afternoon as the Browns were defeated 10-27 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Winston completed 26 passes for 235 yards, threw a touchdown to Cedric Tillman late in the fourth quarter against three interceptions, and rushed for 27 yards on five carries but was sacked six times. A brutal afternoon for the Brown’s quarterback as the team enter their week 10 bye week and won’t see action until they face off against the New Orleans Saints on the road.
Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott: C
Prescott did what he could to help the Cowboys out in their 21-27 loss on the road against the Atlanta Falcons but left the game with a hamstring injury, forcing Cooper Rush into action. Prescott completed 18 passes for 133 yards, threw a touchdown pass to Rico Dowdle against no interceptions, rushed for 30 yards on three carries, and was sacked three times. With Prescott out due to his hamstring injury, Rush has to be ready and step up. Prescott may indeed be out for multiple weeks.
Denver Broncos: Bo Nix: D
Nix regressed after week eight, as he and the Broncos were defeated 10-41 against the Baltimore Ravens. Nix completed 19 passes for 233 yards, threw an interception against no touchdown passes, rushed for 36 yards on six carries, and scored a touchdown pass from Courtland Sutton via a trick play in the second quarter but was sacked four times. Even though the Sutton to Nix touchdown was an amazing play to watch, Nix and the Broncos need to turn things around quickly. Nix and the Broncos travel west from Baltimore to Arrowhead Stadium for a week 10 showdown against their bitter AFC West rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Detroit Lions: Jared Goff: A-
Goff may not have thrown for over 200 yards, but he managed to help the Lions secure a very nice 24-14 win over their NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers, at Lambeau Field. Goff completed 18 passes for 145 yards, threw a touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown against no interceptions, and rushed for negative two yards on three carries but was sacked once. The superstar NFL quarterback continued to show his great leadership for the Lions as they conquered their NFC North rival in enemy territory. Goff and the Lions continue their road trip as they travel south to Texas for a week 10 showdown against the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football.
Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love: D+
Love had a rough afternoon in the rain as the Packers lost 14-24 against the visiting Detroit Lions. Love completed 23 passes for 273 yards, threw an interception, which was returned by Kerby Joseph for a 27-yard pick-six, rushed for no yards on three carries, and wasn’t sacked at all, but fumbled the ball three times and recovered two of those fumbles. Love and the Packers have some improvements to make, and luckily, enter a bye week for week 10.
Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud: D
Stroud didn’t play his best game, as he and the Texans were defeated by the New York Jets 13-21. Stroud completed 11 passes for 191 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and rushed for 59 yards on eight carries but was sacked eight times and lost a fumble. It also didn’t help Stroud that his teammate, offensive guard Kenyon Green, suffered a shoulder injury ending his 2024 season, as well as not having Stefon Diggs on the field as he recovers from the ACL injury he suffered back in week eight. Stoud and the Texans need to move on from this loss as they welcome the Detroit Lions to town in week 10 for a showdown on Sunday Night Football.
Indianapolis Colts: Joe Flacco: D
After Anthony Richardson was benched for being too tired in week eight, Flacco took command of the Colts but struggled in their 13-21 loss on Sunday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran NFL quarterback threw an interception against no touchdowns and rushed for negative one yards on three carries but was sacked three times and lost a fumble. Despite Flacco’s and the Colts’ offensive struggles against the Vikings’ defense, head coach Shane Steichen announced Flacco would be the starter in the team’s Week 10 home stand against the Buffalo Bills coming to town.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence: D+
Trevor Lawrence had a tough week nine road trip, as he and the Jaguars lost a tough 23-28 battle against the Philadelphia Eagles. Lawrence completed 16 passes for 169 yards, threw two interceptions against no touchdowns, rushed for eight yards on five carries, and scored two rushing touchdowns but was sacked twice. Lawrence had a rough game despite attempting a comeback for the Jaguars in the second half. Lawrence and the Jaguars return home for a week 10 showdown against the Minnesota Vikings coming to Duval County.
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes: A-
Patrick Mahomes played an electric game as he and the Chiefs defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-24 in overtime. Mahomes completed 34 passes for 291 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for nine yards on two carries but was sacked four times. Mahomes nearly suffered a knee injury after he threw a touchdown pass to Samaje Perine but was able to return to the game in the Chiefs’ next offensive possession.
Mahomes and newly acquired DeAndre Hopkins formed great on-field chemistry as Hopkins scored two touchdowns on the night, while the connection between Mahomes and Travis Kelce remains strong. Mahomes and the Chiefs remain home for week 10 as they get ready to host the Denver Broncos coming to town.
Las Vegas Raiders: Gardner Minshew: D
Minshew had a painful performance for the Raiders on the road, as they were dismantled 24-41 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Minshew completed 10 passes for 124 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, rushed for no yards on a single carry, lost a fumble, which was recovered by Logan Wilson, and was sacked once. Minshew’s performance was awful, as head coach Antonio Pierce benched him for Desmond Ridder, who threw a touchdown pass to Brock Bowers, but he was sacked four times and also lost a fumble to Logan Wilson.
The Raiders are a mess as they have fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello immediately after their recent NFL game. Luckily for Minshew and company, the team enters a bye week in week 10. Can Minshew find a way to turn the ship around? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert: B+
Herbert had a very nice afternoon for the Chargers as they defeated the Cleveland Browns 27-10. Herbert completed 18 passes for 282 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for two yards on three carries but was sacked six times. Herbert played a solid game despite getting sacked six times. Herbert and the Bolts return home for week 10 as they welcome the Tennessee Titans to town.
Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford: B+
Stafford continues to show his veteran reliability as he guided the Rams to a nice 26-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks in overtime. Stafford completed 25 passes for 298 yards, threw two touchdowns to Demarcus Robinson (including the game-winning touchdown to end overtime) against an interception, rushed for no yards on a carry, and wasn’t sacked at all, but lost a fumble and recovered it. Stafford played very well, as Robinson is becoming a very reliable target for him, along with Cooper Kupp back on the field. Stafford and the Rams return home for a week 10 showdown against the visiting Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa: B
Tagovailoa had a very nice game for the Dolphins, even though the team lost 27-30 against the Buffalo Bills on the road. Tagovailoa completed 25 passes for 231 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for three yards on two carries but was sacked once. Tagovailoa is helping the Dolphins’ offense return to form, but the star NFL quarterback needs to help the team close games out in wins rather than losses. Tagovailoa and the Dolphins need to get focused for their week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on the road.
Minnesota Vikings: Sam Darnold: C
Darnold didn’t play his best game of the season, but the Vikings secured the 21-13 come-from-behind victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. Darnold completed 28 passes for 290 yards, threw three touchdowns against two interceptions, and rushed for 14 yards on four carries, but was sacked four times and lost a fumble, which was recovered by Kenny Moore II for a Colts’ touchdown. Darnold still has some things to clean up as he and the Vikings get prepared for their week 10 road trip to Duval County when they square off against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
New England Patriots: Drake Maye: C-
Maye had a decent afternoon as the Patriots narrowly lost 17-20 in overtime. Maye completed 29 passes for 206 yards, threw a touchdown to Rhamondre Stevenson to tie the game and send it to overtime against two costly interceptions, and rushed for 95 yards on eight carries but was sacked four times. A tough way to lose, but Maye showed resilience as the team continued their rebuild in the post-Bill Belichick era. Maye and the Patriots continue their road trip as they prepare for a showdown on the road in the Mid West against the Chicago Bears.
New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr: C-
Carr returned to action for the Saints, even though they fell in a painful 22-23 loss on the road against the Carolina Panthers. Carr completed 18 passes for 236 yards, threw a touchdown to Foster Moreau against no interceptions, and was sacked once. Carr made some questionable throws as he threw 13 incompletions, including a throw to Chris Olave, which resulted in Olave getting hit by Xavier Woods and leaving the game with a horrific concussion.
Former Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas and Chris Olave’s brother criticized Carr and the Saints after Olave left the game. After the game, the Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen and appointed special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi as the interim head coach. Will Rizzi help Carr and the Saints escape their seven-game losing streak? We’ll just have to wait and see.
New York Giants: Daniel Jones: B-
Daniel Jones finally threw a couple of touchdowns at MetLife Stadium in the Giants’ game against the Washington Commanders, but the G-Men lost 22-27. The often talked down NFL quarterback completed 20 passes for 174 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, rushed for 54 yards on seven carries, and scored a rushing touchdown, but was sacked twice and lost a fumble. Jones played fair but couldn’t get the G-Men over the hump, as they fell to their NFC East rival. Jones and the Giants have to get prepared for their week 10 game abroad in Munich, Germany, where they’ll square off against the Carolina Panthers.
New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers: A-
Rodgers looks to have found his groove again as the Jets stunned the Houston Texans 21-13 on Halloween night. Rodgers completed 22 passes for 211 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for negative one yard on one carry but was sacked twice. The Rodgers and Davante Adams connection returned for the first time since 2021 as Adams scored a touchdown. Rodgers and Garrett Wilson are starting to form great offensive chemistry, as Wilson hauled in two touchdowns on the night.
Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: A-
Hurts had a very nice game for the Eagles, as they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-23 at home. Hurts completed 18 passes for 230 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, rushed for 67 yards on 13 carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked three times. Hurts looked good as he and the Eagles continued to compete for the top spot in the NFC East. Hurts and the Eagles travel to the Lone Star state for a week 10 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Russell Wilson: Bye Week
So far, Wilson has had a very nice season for the Steelers. If the veteran quarterback continues to play at an elite level, he can potentially be a nominee for the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award by the end of the season.
San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy: Bye Week
Purdy is having a decent season so far. However, the injuries affecting key guys at the running back and wide receiver positions have hindered Purdy and the 49ers as well. Purdy and company return to action in week 10 as they prepare to square off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road.
Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith: C-
Smith did everything he could to help the Seahawks out, even though they suffered a painful 20-26 overtime loss at home against their NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams. Smith completed 21 passes for 363 yards, threw three touchdowns against three interceptions, and rushed for 16 yards on six carries but was sacked seven times. A slight improvement for Smith from week eight, but it resulted in another loss for the Seahawks. Smith and company enter a bye week in week 10 and will return to action in week 11 when they square off against the San Francisco 49ers on the road.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield: B+
Mayfield played his heart out for the Buccaneers on the road and in the rain, even though the team lost a thrilling 24-30 overtime battle against the Kansas City Chiefs. Mayfield completed 23 passes for 200 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 20 yards on four carries but was sacked twice. Mayfield looked like the heart and soul of the Buccaneers despite the overtime loss, and there was no Mike Evans or Chris Godwin on the field. Mayfield and the Bucs return home in week 10 and will host the San Francisco 49ers coming to town.
Tennessee Titans: Mason Rudolph: C+
Rudolph played one of his better games, as he helped the Titans earn their second win of the 2024 season in a 20-17 overtime win over the New England Patriots. Rudolph completed 20 passes for 240 yards, threw two touchdowns against an interception, and rushed for 19 yards on four carries but was sacked once. A decent afternoon for Rudolph and company as they earned a nice win at home. They still have a lot of work to accomplish if the Titans want to have a respectable 2024 season.
Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels: A-
Daniels had a nice game for the Commanders, as they defeated the New York Giants 27-22 at MetLife Stadium. Daniels completed 15 passes for 209 yards, threw two touchdowns to Terry McLaurin against no interceptions, rushed for 35 yards on eight carries, and wasn’t sacked at all. Daniels continued to play like a Rookie of the Year candidate, as well as looking like the guy who can potentially make the Commanders a playoff juggernaut. Daniels continues to impress.
