Week eight was a wild week for starting NFL quarterbacks as we saw some of the best signal-callers dominate and lead their respective teams to victory.
We also saw some quarterbacks put up decent games despite their NFL teams losing in the end. We also saw some quarterbacks struggle under center and now they have to get back to practice and work toward a rebound game in week nine. We can’t wait to see more from these quarterbacks when week nine arrives.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ starting quarterbacks after week eight.
Which quarterbacks have the highest grades for each NFL team after week 8?
Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray: A-
Murray had a very nice afternoon in South Beach as the Cardinals defeated the Miami Dolphins 28-27 in last-second comeback fashion. Murray completed 26 passes for 307 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, rushed for 19 yards on five carries, and wasn’t sacked at all. Murray and the Redbirds’ offense looked very sharp as they managed to snag first place in the very competitive NFC West… for now.
Atlanta Falcons: Kirk Cousins: A-
Cousins had a nice afternoon in Central Florida as he and the Falcons defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26. Cousins completed 23 passes for 276 yards, threw four touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 16 yards on three carries but was sacked twice. Cousins has adapted very well to the Falcons’ offense, as they had a tremendously awesome performance against their NFC South rivals.

Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson: B
Lamar Jackson played well but couldn’t get the job done, as the Ravens lost a tough 24-29 battle against the Cleveland Browns. Jackson completed 23 passes for 289 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 46 yards on eight carries but was sacked three times. Jackson played very well, but the Ravens had trouble converting on third down. They were 2-10 on third-down conversions and 0-2 on fourth-down conversion attempts. Jackson and the Ravens return home and will get prepared to host the Denver Broncos in week nine.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen: A-
Allen and the Bills had a staggeringly solid day in the Pacific Northwest as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 31-10. Allen completed 24 passes for 283 yards, threw two touchdowns against his first interception of the 2024 season, and rushed for 25 yards on seven carries but was sacked once. Allen may have thrown his first interception of the season, but he continues to make a case for why he should be an AP NFL MVP nominee. Allen and company return home and get prepared to host the Miami Dolphins in a week nine divisional rematch from week two.
Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young: C-
Andy Dalton was sidelined due to a car accident last week, with Bryce Young getting the start, but Young and the Panthers lost 14-28 to the Denver Broncos. Young completed 24 passes for 224 yards, threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, and rushed for six yards on three carries but was sacked twice. Despite the loss, Young showed some growth as he was able to escape the pocket at key moments of the game and make some good throws despite two interceptions. It’s not known whether Dalton or Young will get the start in week nine as the Panthers get prepared to host the New Orleans Saints in a divisional rematch.
Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams: C-
Williams had a slow game until the fourth quarter, as the Bears fell just short 15-18 against the Washington Commanders in walk-off fashion. Williams completed 10 receptions for 131 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and rushed for 41 yards on 10 yards but was sacked twice. Williams needs to improve and get a good game started in the first quarter. It does not help that Williams and the Bears are dealing with a pretty woeful offensive line that allowed two sacks against Williams. Williams and the Bears have a tough test on the road as they travel west to the desert for a week nine showdown against the Arizona Cardinals.
Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow: B-
Burrow played as best as he could even though the Bengals lost a tough 17-37 battle against the Philadelphia Eagles. Burrow completed 26 passes for 237 yards, threw a touchdown to Ja’Marr Chase in the first quarter against an interception, and rushed for 15 yards on three carries but was sacked once. Burrow and the Bengals had no Tee Higgins, who injured his quad in a Friday practice two days before the game, which affected the flow of the offense. Burrow and company have to regroup and rebound as they get ready to host the Las Vegas Raiders in week nine.

Cleveland Browns: Jameis Winston: A-
Winston and the Browns played a very effective game against the Baltimore Ravens and stunned them in a 29-24 win at home. Winston completed 27 passes for 334 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for two yards on two carries but was sacked twice and lost a fumble. Winston should’ve been named the starter for the Browns weeks ago, as he carried the offense very well. The Browns look to build upon their win as they get set to host the Los Angeles Chargers in week nine.
Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott: C-
Prescott played only okay and attempted a comeback against the San Francisco 49ers but fell short 24-30. Prescott completed 25 passes for 243 yards, threw two touchdowns to CeeDee Lamb against two interceptions, and rushed for negative one yards on a carry but was sacked twice. Prescott and the Cowboys have had a miserable season so far, as opposing defenses have taken advantage of the Cowboys’ woes despite what Prescott has done so far. Prescott and company travel east for a week nine showdown against the Atlanta Falcons on the road.
Denver Broncos: Bo Nix: A-
Nix looked very good in the Broncos 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers. Nix completed 28 passes for 287 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, rushed for four yards on five carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked twice. Nix played possibly one of his best games of the 2024 season as he continues to trend upward despite going up against a woeful Panthers defense. Nix and the Broncos will be tested in week nine when they travel east for a showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.
Detroit Lions: Jared Goff: A-
Goff had a very nice afternoon as the Lions defeated the Tennessee Titans 52-14 in dominating fashion at Ford Field. Goff completed 12 passes for 85 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for a yard on a single carry but was sacked four times. Despite throwing for under 100 yards, Goff and the Lions’ offense dominated the Titans’ defense in imperious fashion.
Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love: C-
Love had an alright game, as he and the Packers narrowly defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-27 in the final seconds, thanks to Brandon McManus’ heroics. Love completed 14 passes for 196 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, rushed for negative one yards on one carry, and wasn’t sacked at all. However, Love left the game with a groin injury as Malik Willis stepped in and threw a touchdown pass to Tucker Kraft, who helped set the Packers up for McManus’ game-winning field goal. Willis has to be ready to hold the Packers’ offense down if Love is out long-term.
Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud: B
Stroud played a nice game, as the Texans narrowly defeated the Indianapolis Colts 23-20. Stroud completed 25 passes for 285 yards, threw a touchdown to Tank Dell against no interceptions, and rushed for negative 10 yards on a carry but was sacked twice. Stroud had a nice rebound game, as he didn’t throw any turnovers, which was a key factor in the Texans’ victory over their divisional rival.
Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Richardson: D
Richardson had an awful game, as the Colts lost a very close 20-23 battle against the Houston Texans on the road. Richardson completed 10 passes for 175 yards, threw a touchdown pass to Josh Downs against an interception, rushed for 45 yards on six carries, and was sacked five times. Richardson came out of the game in the third quarter and said he was tired, which drew a lot of backlash from fans and former Colts players like Pat McAfee, who said, “I had never seen an NFL QB tap out while still being healthy until watching Anthony Richardson. The QB is your franchise. The message it sends is loud and influential.” via X formerly known as Twitter. Richardson and the Colts continue their road trip as they travel north for a tough Sunday night matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in week nine.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence: B
Trevor Lawrence played a very nice game, even though the Jaguars lost 27-30 in a failed comeback attempt. Lawrence completed 21 passes for 308 yards, threw two touchdowns against an interception, rushed for 10 yards on four carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked once. Despite Lawrence’s good performance, the Jaguars couldn’t get it done, as Brandon McManus kicked the game-winning field goal for the Packers. Lawrence and company have to get prepared for their week nine match-up in hostile territory as they square off against the Philadelphia Eagles on the road.
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes: B+
Mahomes had a very nice game for the Chiefs, as they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 27-20 in Sin City. Mahomes completed 27 passes for 262 yards, threw two touchdowns against an interception, and rushed for 17 yards on six carries but was sacked once. Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense are recreating that offensive spark, as Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy both had nice games and recently acquired DeAndre Hopkins via trade, as he slowly becomes a new target for Mahomes’ ball, moving forward.
Las Vegas Raiders: Gardner Minshew: C
Gardner Minshew may have thrown no interceptions, but he and the Raiders suffered a painful 20-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at home. Minshew completed 24 passes for 209 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for six yards on two carries, but was sacked five times and lost a fumble to the Chiefs. Minshew may not have thrown any interceptions, but getting sacked five times is never a good look for an NFL quarterback who fails due to the lack of protection from the team’s offensive line. Minshew and the Raiders need to turn things around as they get ready for a week nine showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals on the road.
Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert: A-
Herbert had a very nice performance for the Bolts, as they secured a well-needed 26-8 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Herbert completed 20 passes for 279 yards, threw two touchdowns to Ladd McConkey against no interceptions, and rushed for 49 yards on four carries but was sacked three times. Herbert played very well as he tried to keep the Chargers’ season alive.
Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford: A-
Stafford had a very nice performance in the Rams’ 30-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Stafford completed 25 passes for 279 yards, threw four touchdowns against an interception, rushed for negative four yards on three carries, and wasn’t sacked at all. Both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp returned to action and were massive game-changers for Stafford and the Rams. Demarcus Robinson was just as reliable, as he hauled in two touchdowns on the night. The Rams look to continue on track in an ever-so-competitive NFC West.
Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa: B
After six weeks recovering from his brutal concussion in week two, Tua Tagavailoa returned to the field and played well, even though the Dolphins lost 27-28. Tagovailoa completed 28 passes for 234 yards, threw a touchdown to De’Von Achane against no interceptions, and rushed for 13 yards on three carries but was sacked once. Tagovailoa helped rejuvenate the Dolphins’ offense, which struggled without him, as they put up a fight against the Cardinals before losing in the final seconds of the game.
Minnesota Vikings: Sam Darnold: C+
Sam Darnold played well in a tough and controversial 20-30 loss on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. Darnold completed 18 passes for 240 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for six yards on three carries but was sacked three times. Darnold was also sacked in the end zone by Byron Young, who grabbed Darnold’s facemask with 1:38 left in the game. The refs missed throwing a penalty flag, which would’ve resulted in a 15-yard penalization, which would’ve helped the Vikings out. However, it wasn’t the case, as Darnold and the Vikings returned home and got ready to host the Indianapolis Colts in week nine on Sunday Night Football.
New England Patriots: Jacoby Brissett: C
Brissett sprung into action in the Patriots 25-22 win after Drake Maye left the game with a concussion. Brissett completed 15 passes for 132 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and rushed for 11 yards on three carries, while Maye rushed for 46 yards on three carries and scored a rushing touchdown. With Maye out with a concussion, Brissett has to be ready to roll as the Patriots get set to hit the road for a week nine road match-up against the Tennessee Titans.
New Orleans Saints: Spencer Rattler: F
Rattler had another rough afternoon as they were defeated by the Los Angeles Chargers 8-26. Rattler completed 12 passes for 156 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and was sacked three times until he was benched for Jake Haener, who also threw no touchdowns or interceptions and was sacked twice. Rattler said it is what it is when asked about his benching as the Saints continue their downward spiral into impending obscurity in the NFL. However, the Saints are expecting to get Derek Carr back at practice before week nine. Will it be enough to save their season? We’ll just have to wait and see.
New York Giants: Daniel Jones: D
Daniel Jones tried to help the Giants attempt a comeback against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they fell short in a very slow starting yet exciting 18-26 battle on Monday Night Football. Jones completed 24 passes for 264 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, rushed for a yard on three carries, and was sacked four times. If Jones continues to drop key games for this team, head coach Brian Daboll might need to make a change at quarterback or find another quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.
New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers: B
Rodgers played well, even though he and the New York Jets lost 22-25 against the New England Patriots in upset fashion. Rodgers completed 17 passes for 233 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and was sacked only once. As good as Rodgers has been as an NFL quarterback, it’s been tough watching him and his team fail to secure wins when need be, as the Jets lost another game they could’ve won. Another coulda, woulda, shoulda.
Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: A-
Hurts looked very good on the road as the Eagles defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 37-17. Hurts completed 16 passes for 240 yards, threw a touchdown to DeVonta Smith against no interceptions, rushed for 37 yards on 10 carries, and scored three rushing touchdowns. It’s not just Hurts ability as a passer that opposing defenses should be worried about, as he’s also an incredible runner and can put points on the board thanks to his speed.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Russell Wilson: B
Wilson and the Steelers had a slow start in the first half until they got the gears revving in the second half and defeated the New York Giants 26-18. Wilson completed 20 passes for 278 yards, threw a touchdown to Calvin Austin III against no interceptions, and rushed for seven yards on three carries but was sacked four times and lost a fumble. Despite the slow start, Wilson continued to cook well on offense as he and the Steelers entered their week nine bye week.
San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy: B+
Purdy played well on Sunday Night Football, as the 49ers narrowly won 30-24 against the Dallas Cowboys. Purdy completed 18 passes for 260 yards, threw a touchdown pass to George Kittle against no interceptions, rushed for 56 yards on eight carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and was sacked twice. Even with guys like Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve, the star NFL quarterback knows how to utilize all of the offensive talent around his team, as he guided the 49ers to a well-needed victory before their week nine bye week.
Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith: F
Smith had a brutal afternoon, as he and the Seahawks played very poorly against the Buffalo Bills in their 10-31 loss at home. Smith completed 21 passes for 212 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, and rushed for 16 yards on five carries. Smith’s performance was awful, as was the rest of the Seahawks’ team, all game long. Smith and company need to regroup and get prepared for their week nine home game against the Los Angeles Rams coming to town.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield: C-
Mayfield didn’t play his best game of the season, but he could’ve played a lot worse in the Bucs’ 26-31 divisional loss at home against the Atlanta Falcons. Mayfield completed 37 passes for 33o yards, threw three touchdowns against two interceptions, rushed for 11 yards on three carries, and wasn’t sacked all game. Even though Mayfield threw two touchdowns to Cade Otton and a touchdown pass to Rachaad White, the two interceptions were costly, as he truly missed both the production of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on offense, as both are dealing with injuries, while Godwin is out the rest of the 2024 season.
Tennessee Titans: Mason Rudolph: D+
Mason Rudolph took command of the Titans’ offense and got some points on the board until the Detroit Lions decimated the Titans 14-52 in dominating fashion. Rudolph completed 22 passes for 266 yards, threw a touchdown to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine against two interceptions, rushed for 29 yards on four carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked once. A rough afternoon for Rudolph, as he and the Titans need to regroup and get prepared to host the New England Patriots in week nine, back in Nashville.
Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels: A-
Daniels had himself a very nice afternoon as he led the Commanders to an 18-15 walk-off victory over the Chicago Bears. Daniels completed 21 passes for 326 yards, threw a touchdown to Noah Brown against no interceptions, and rushed for 52 yards on eight carries but was sacked twice. Daniels has become the leader the Commanders have looked for, as he won more respect from fans and sports figures alike, thanks to his Hail Mary walk-off touchdown to Noah Brown- at the very end of the game.
