Week five saw some awe-inspiring quarterback play as some callers managed to lead their teams to impressive and nail-biting wins, whether at home or on the road.
However, some quarterbacks, despite playing well, couldn’t earn a win, as their respective NFL teams struggled and couldn’t help them out in the end. Regardless, it was an excellent week for quarterbacks, and we can’t wait to see more.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ quarterbacks after week five.
Who are the top NFL Quarterbacks after week 5 of games?
Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray: B
Kyler Murray and the Cardinals returned from being down 23-10 at halftime and defeated the San Francisco 49ers 24-23. Murray completed 19 passes for 195 yards, threw a touchdown against an interception, rushed for 83 yards on seven carries, and scored a touchdown, but was sacked once. Murray managed the game well as the Cardinals mounted a successful comeback and won against their NFC West rivals.
Atlanta Falcons: Kirk Cousins: A-
Cousins played an outstanding game, as he and the Falcons defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 36-30 in an overtime thriller. Cousins completed 42 passes for 509 yards and threw four touchdowns against one interception but was sacked four times. A very strong game for Cousins, as he and the Falcons mean business as they endeavor to claim the NFC South crown from their divisional rivals.

Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson: A-
Lamar Jackson had an incredible game in the Ravens’ 41-38 overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson completed 26 passes for 348 yards, threw four touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 55 yards on 12 carries but was sacked once. Jackson and the Ravens’ offense brought out the passing game, even if Jackson did throw 16 incompletions. Jackson will certainly continue to play well as the season progresses.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen: C
Allen and the Bills played slightly better in week five but came up short in a failed comeback attempt in their 20-23 loss to the Houston Texans. Allen completed nine passes for 131 yards, threw a touchdown to Keon Coleman against no interceptions, and rushed for 54 yards on nine carries, but was sacked once and threw 21 incompletions. Allen also took a nasty hit in the fourth quarter and was seen using smelling salts as he went back on the field to finish the game. We hope Allen is okay, but this was a bad look for the NFL.
Carolina Panthers: Andy Dalton: F
Dalton and the Panthers were sent back to earth as they were defeated by the Carolina Panthers 10-36. Dalton completed 18 passes for 136 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, and rushed for three yards on a carry but was sacked three times. A rough afternoon for Dalton as he and the Panthers need to rebound fast if they want to have a respectable 2024 season.
Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams: A-
Williams had one of his best games of the 2024 season, as he and the Bears defeated the Carolina Panthers 36-10. Williams completed 20 passes for 304 yards, threw two touchdowns to DJ Moore against no interceptions, and rushed for 34 yards on five carries but was sacked once. A great Sunday for Williams as he torched the Panthers’ defense all game. Now Williams and company get set for a week six showdown in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow: A-
Joe Burrow played a very strong game despite the Bengals losing 38-41 in an overtime thriller. Burrow completed 30 passes for 392 yards, threw five touchdowns against one interception, and rushed for a yard on two carries but was sacked three times. Despite the loss in overtime, Burrow played a very electric game and commanded a great offensive scheme against the Ravens. Burrow and company will bounce back as the team gets set for their week six Sunday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants.

Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson: D
Watson and the Browns struggled on the road in their 13-34 loss to the Washington Commanders. Watson completed 15 passes for 125 yards, threw a touchdown against no interceptions, and rushed for 14 yards on three yards but was sacked seven times despite Watson’s struggles and running into a vicious Commanders’ defense. Head coach Kevin Stefanski still has faith in Watson despite his struggles so far this season.
Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott: B
Prescott led the Cowboys to a very impressive 20-17 Sunday night win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road. Prescott completed 29 passes for 352 yards, threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, and rushed for three yards on a carry but was sacked twice. Prescott is impressed under the lights as the Cowboys look to reclaim the NFC East. Prescott and company now have to get prepared for their week six matchup at home against the Detroit Lions.
Denver Broncos: Bo Nix: B+
Nix had another good game as he and the Broncos defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 34-18. Nix completed 19 passes for 206 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, rushed for nine yards on eight carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked three times. Nix is slowly starting to find his rhythm in the NFL as a starting quarterback, as he and the Broncos earned a nice divisional win over the Raiders. However, Nix is undoubtedly still on the learning curve as he continues to improve each week.
Detroit Lions: Jared Goff: Bye Week
As Goff and the Lions rest up in their Bye Week after their impressive week four win against the Seattle Seahawks, Goff needs to continue playing with that momentum as the Lions travel to Dallas for a tough road test against the Dallas Cowboys in week six.
Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love: B+
Jordan Love played a very nice game as he and the Packers defeated the Los Angeles Rams on the road. Love completed 15 passes for 224 yards, threw two touchdowns to Tucker Kraft against an interception, and rushed for 10 yards on three carries but was sacked twice. Love played well and continues to be the Packers’ main NFL superstar quarterback moving forward.
Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud: B-
C.J. Stroud played a decent game as the Texans defeated the Buffalo Bills 23-20 in last-second fashion. Stroud completed 28 passes for 331 yards, threw a touchdown to Nico Collins against an interception, and rushed for 27 yards on three carries but was sacked once. Stroud played a solid game, but losing Nico Collins to a hamstring injury is going to hurt the Texans’ passing attack.
Indianapolis Colts: Joe Flacco: B
Despite the Colts losing a close 34-37 battle against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Joe Flacco played well. Flacco completed 33 passes for 359 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 22 yards on three carries but was sacked four times. A decent afternoon for the 39-year-old veteran while Anthony Richardson recovers from his hip and oblique injury. Flacco also ranked first in passer rating, while Richardson ranked last in passer rating.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence: B
Even though Trevor Lawrence has struggled throughout the 2024 season, he and the Jaguars did earn a very nice 37-34 win at home against the Indianapolis Colts. Lawrence completed 28 passes for 371 yards, threw two touchdowns against one interception, rushed for four yards on two carries, and wasn’t sacked at all. This is the Trevor Lawrence we need to see more of, even though the Jaguars have been a mess this year. Hopefully, Lawrence and company will build upon this win as the team gets focused on their week six matchup against the Chicago Bears in London.
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes: B-
Patrick Mahomes may not have thrown a single touchdown pass in the Chiefs’ 26-13 over the New Orleans Saints as he showed once again he’s an excellent offensive leader. Mahomes completed 28 passes for 331 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, and rushed for 22 yards on six carries but was sacked twice. The superstar quarterback made some great throws to Travis Kelce and Juju Smith-Schuster in the victory as the Chiefs dominated the Saints.
Las Vegas Raiders: Gardner Minshew: D
Minshew and the Raiders struggled on the road, as they were defeated by the Denver Broncos 18-34. Minshew completed 12 passes for 137 yards, threw two costly interceptions against a touchdown, and rushed for 22 yards on two carries but was sacked twice and benched for Aidan O’Connell. Minshew and the Raiders need to step it up quickly if the team wants to have a somewhat respectable season.
Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert: Bye Week
As Herbert and the Chargers recharge their batteries during their bye week, Herbert needs to make sure his ankle is healthy moving forward, especially as the Chargers hit the road and headed to the desert for their week six matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford: C-
Matthew Stafford and the Rams had a rough afternoon, as they fell to the Green Bay Packers 19-24. Stafford completed 29 passes for 260 yards and threw a touchdown against an interception but was sacked three times. A brutal day for Stafford as the Rams lost their third single-scored game this season. He and the Rams are missing both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp.
Miami Dolphins: Tyler Huntley: D-
Tyler Huntley played better than he did in week four, but struggled, even as the Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots 15-10. Huntley completed 18 passes for 194 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, and rushed for seven yards on three carries but was sacked three times. A very grueling performance by Huntley, as the quarterback continues to learn more about the Dolphins’ offensive scheme.
Minnesota Vikings: Sam Darnold: C
Darnold didn’t play his best game against the New York Jets, even though the Vikings secured the 23-17 win thanks to the team’s defense. Darnold completed 14 passes for 179 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, and was sacked four times. A tough performance in London for Darnold, as the Vikings’ defense was able to bail him out in the victory. Luckily for Darnold and the Vikings, the team enters a bye week for week six.
New England Patriots: Jacoby Brissett: D
Brissett struggled in a very tough and painful 10-15 loss to the Miami Dolphins at home. Brissett completed 18 passes for 160 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and rushed for 10 yards on one carry but was sacked twice. A tough afternoon for Brissett and the Pats as their losing streak extends to four straight games.
New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr: B-
Carr played a decent game on the ground in the Saints’ 13-26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs until he left the game with an oblique injury. Carr completed 18 passes for 165 yards and threw two touchdowns against one interception but was sacked once. Losing Carr is going to hurt if he’s out long-term. Jake Haener looked all right in the final minutes of the game but needs to be prepared to play a full game as a quarterback if Carr is indeed out long-term.
New York Giants: Daniel Jones: B+
Jones played a very good game for the Giants as they stunned the Seattle Seahawks 29-20. Jones completed 23 passes for 257 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 38 yards on 11 carries, but was sacked three times. Even though Jones isn’t a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback by any stretch of the means, he has shown he knows how to be a leader for the Giants’ offense- through thick and thin.
New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers: C-
The Jets lost a tough 17-23 battle against the Minnesota Vikings on the road. Rodgers played an alright game as he played through a low ankle sprain. Rodgers completed 29 passes for 244 yards and threw two touchdowns against three costly interceptions but was sacked three times. Rodgers had a very tough start in the first half of the game, even though he was able to turn things around in the second half, but he and the Jets came up short as they weren’t able to get the win across the pond.
Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: Bye Week
Jalen Hurts needs to have a strong bounce-back game for the Eagles as they get set for their week six matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Otherwise, if Hurts continues to regress, it may be time to make some changes in the play-calling.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Justin Fields: B
Justin Fields was the shining light for the Steelers offense as they lost a tough and thrilling 17-20 Sunday Night showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. Fields completed 15 passes for 131 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions and rushed for 27 yards on six carries but was sacked three times. Fields continue to show excellent leadership for the Steelers, even though the rest of the offense struggled all night.
San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy: D+
Purdy had a rough afternoon as the 49ers let a 23-10 lead slip away and lost to the Arizona Cardinals 23-24. Purdy completed 19 passes for 244 yards, threw a touchdown to George Kittle against two interceptions, and rushed for 33 yards on four carries but was sacked twice. It was a rough afternoon for Purdy and the 49ers. They need to hit the reset button, as they have their sights set on their week six matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith: C-
Geno Smith had a rough afternoon as he and the Seahawks lost 20-29 to the New York Giants at home. Smith completed 28 passes for 284 yards, threw a touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba against no interceptions, and led the Seahawks with 72 rushing yards on four carries but was sacked seven times. It’s not the worst game for Smith, but getting sacked seven times is not a good look for the Seahawks’ offensive line, which is dealing with injuries. Hopefully, Smith and company rebound as they try to maintain control of the NFC West.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield: A-
Despite the Buccaneers losing 30-36 in overtime, Baker Mayfield played very well throughout the game. The star quarterback completed 19 passes for 180 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 42 yards on six carries but was sacked once. Mayfield showed why he’s a great player for the Bucs, as his teammate Lavonte David praised his veteran leadership. Mayfield and the Bucs now look to bounce back, as they get prepared for another divisional showdown with the New Orleans Saints come week six.
Tennessee Titans: Will Levis: Bye Week
Levis’s struggles on the field are hard to watch, especially as the Titans have one of the worst offensive line units in the NFL. Levis needs to have a rebound game and make sure his shoulder is healthy when the Titans host the Indianapolis Colts in week six.
Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels: B
Daniels had a good afternoon as he and the Commanders defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-13. Daniels completed 14 passes for 238 yards, threw a touchdown against an interception, and rushed for 82 yards on 11 carries but was sacked three sacks. Despite throwing an interception, the rookie quarterback played very well. He still has the potential to win Offensive Rookie of the Year if he continues to have a very good season.
