Week two saw decent quarterback production as they helped lead their NFL teams to victories in another intense week of games.
Other quarterbacks, however, couldn’t get that elusive win in the 2024 season due to strong defensive power from opponents, injuries to offensive linemen and pass catchers, or just struggling on the field. Regardless, we at TPS were thrilled with what we saw in week two, and we hope these quarterbacks have a very strong week three and beyond.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ quarterbacks after week two.
Who are the NFL quarterbacks that stood out after week two of the season?
Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray: A-
After almost beating the Buffalo Bills in week one, Murray went into action and helped the Cardinals dominate the Los Angeles Rams 41-10. Murray completed 17 passes for 266 yards, threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 59 yards on five carries but was sacked once. The drafting of Marvin Harrison Jr. is finally paying off, as Murray connected with the rookie phenom from Ohio State University in the end zone twice- in the victory. If Murray and the Cardinals continue to play like this, they can potentially be a dark horse playoff team in the NFC.
Atlanta Falcons: Kirk Cousins: B+
Kirk Cousins’ performance improved in the Falcons’ 22-21 comeback victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Cousins completed 20 passes for 241 yards, threw two touchdowns to Darnell Mooney, and the game-winner to Drake London, but was sacked once. Sometimes, it takes a week or two to adjust to a new offensive scheme and to learn from your mistakes from the previous week, in the case of Cousins leading the Falcons to their first win of the 2024 season.

Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson: B
Despite a failed comeback attempt, Jackson played fairly, as he did everything he could to help the Ravens get their first win of the season, but to no avail. They lost 23-26 to the Las Vegas Raiders. Jackson completed 21 passes for 247 yards, threw a touchdown against an interception, and rushed for 45 yards on five carries but was sacked twice by Maxx Crosby. Jackson needs to find more open receivers, as he threw 13 incompletions, including having a pass for Isaiah Likely batted away by Jack Jones in the final minute of the game. Hopefully, Jackson will bounce back in week three.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen: A-
After leading the Bills to a comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals in week one, Josh Allen once again led the Bills to a strong 31-10 win over the Miami Dolphins. Allen completed 13 passes for 139 yards, threw a touchdown pass to James Cook against no interceptions, and rushed for two yards on two carries. Allen is like a reliable Swiss Army knife who can always get the job done with all of his teammates around him.
Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young: F
It was another disastrous day for Young and the Panthers, as they were crushed by the Los Angeles Chargers. Young completed 18 passes for 84 yards, threw an interception against no touchdowns, and rushed for six yards on one carry but was sacked twice. The day after the game, Panthers’ head coach Dave Canales benched Young due to his continued struggles in favor of veteran backup NFL quarterback Andy Dalton for the team’s week three matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams: F
It was a very brutal Sunday night for Williams and the Bears, as they lost 13-19 to the Houston Texans. Williams completed 23 passes for 174 yards, threw two costly interceptions against no touchdowns, and rushed for 44 yards on five carries but was sacked seven times. Williams struggled in the game, as he tried to maneuver like he did during his time at USC, but it didn’t work. NFL defenses are much tougher to maneuver through, as the best of the best compete in the NFL every week. That is a very tough and painful lesson Williams needs to take away from this disaster of a game.
Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow: B-
Even though the Bengals lost a nail-biting 25-26 battle against the Kansas City Chiefs, Burrow played his heart out, doing whatever he could to help the Bengals out. Burrow completed 23 passes for 258 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for nine yards on six carries but was sacked twice. Burrow also threw 13 incompletions, which hurt the Bengals’ chances of winning. However, if Burrow continues to improve from the team’s 0-2 start and earn the Bengals’ first win of the season, he can potentially get the Bengals back into the playoffs.

Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson: D+
Watson played a bit of a sloppy game as the Browns secured the 18-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Watson completed 22 passes for 186 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, rushed for 20 yards on five carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked twice. Watson may have struggled at times, but the Browns have a reliable defense that made big plays, which was a nightmare for the opposing Trevor Lawrence for the majority of the game.
Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott: D-
After a strong week one performance, Prescott fell apart at home, as the Cowboys lost 19-44 to the New Orleans Saints. Prescott completed 27 passes for 293 yards, threw a touchdown to CeeDee Lamb against two interceptions, and rushed for 12 yards on two carries but was also sacked three times. It was a brutal loss for Prescott, as it sometimes can be a challenge to overcome tough losses like this one in the league, and fast, as the 2024 season is starting to move quickly.
Denver Broncos: Bo Nix: F
Bo Nix had a very brutal afternoon in the Broncos home opener, as they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 6-13. Nix completed 20 passes for 246 yards, threw two interceptions against no touchdowns, and rushed for 25 yards on four carries but was sacked twice. If Nix continues to struggle in key games, it may be time for NFL head coach Sean Payton to bench his rookie quarterback in favor of someone else.
Detroit Lions: Jared Goff: D
It was a rough day for Goff, as the Lions were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 16-20. Goff completed 34 passes for 307 yards, threw two interceptions against no touchdowns, and rushed for five yards on two carries. It was not the best day for Goff, as he also threw 21 incompletions in the loss. However, Goff wasn’t sacked during the entire game. Goff will certainly bounce back from this loss and help the Lions earn wins in the coming weeks.
Green Bay Packers: Malik Willis: B+
No Jordan Love, no problem! Willis performed well, as Love recovers from his MCL sprain, in the Packers’ 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Willis completed 12 passes for 122 yards, threw a touchdown against no interceptions, and wasn’t sacked at all. Willis showed a lot of promise as a great backup NFL quarterback, as he kept his cool and composure in the Packers’ victory.
Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud: B
Stroud kept his cool and composure as he and the Texans defeated the Chicago Bears 19-13. Stroud completed 23 passes for 260 yards, threw a touchdown against no interceptions, and rushed for negative one yards on one carry but was sacked three times. Stroud played like a true leader, as he and the Texans topped the Bears for a strong 2-0 start to their season. Hopefully, Stroud and the Texans continue earning more wins as the season progresses.
Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Richardson: D+
Richardson had a tough afternoon as he and the Colts were defeated 10-16 against the Green Bay Packers. Richardson completed 17 passes for 204 yards and threw a touchdown to Alec Pierce in the fourth quarter against three interceptions, one of which was the game-ender. Richardson was also sacked once in the game and needed to make key throws, as well as make sure his receivers could catch his passes.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence: D
It was a rough afternoon for Lawrence, as the Jaguars lost to the Cleveland Browns 13-18. Lawrence completed 14 passes for 220 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and rushed for 45 yards on two carries but was sacked four times. Lawrence blamed himself for his struggles in a very sloppy week two game. Lawrence also said the wideouts have to play better, the offensive line has to play better, and everyone else has to play better and coach better moving forward.
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes: B-
Mahomes and the Chiefs played a very close and competitive battle with the Cincinnati Bengals, as they helped set Harrison Butker to kick the game-winning field goal and win 26-25. Mahomes completed 18 passes for 151 yards, threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, and rushed for 29 yards on four carries but was sacked twice. Despite the nail-biting performance, Mahomes found a way to help the Chiefs win, which is all that matters at the end of the day.
Las Vegas Raiders: Gardner Minshew: C+
Minshew may not be considered the best quarterback in the league, even though he knows how to play and help his NFL team earn wins, as he did against the Baltimore Ravens in this week’s two matchups. Minshew completed 30 passes for 276 yards, threw a touchdown against an interception, and rushed for negative one yard on one carry but was sacked five times. Despite getting pressured by the Ravens’ defense, Minshew kept his cool and was able to connect with Davante Adams for a Raiders touchdown, helping secure the win for the team.
Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert: B+
Justin Herbert and the Chargers had a very strong afternoon as they crushed the Carolina Panthers 26-3. Herbert completed 14 passes for 130 yards, threw two touchdowns to Quentin Johnston against one interception, and rushed for 18 yards on six carries but was sacked once. Even though Herbert and the Chargers secured an easy victory, he did have a leg injury scare. However, the X-rays came back negative, giving Chargers fans a sigh of relief moving forward.
Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford: D-
It was a brutal afternoon as Stafford and the Rams were crushed 10-41 by the Arizona Cardinals. Stafford completed 19 passes for 216 yards and threw no touchdowns or interceptions but was sacked five times. It also didn’t help Stafford that the Rams’ offensive line was smacked with injuries, as well as not having Puka Nacua, and as of the end of week two, no Cooper Kupp, as he suffered an ankle injury during the game. It may be a painful few weeks for Stafford unless he and the Rams find a way to rebound in week three.
Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa: C-
Tua Tagovailoa played a rough game as the Dolphins fell 10-31, but unfortunately, Tagovailoa suffered a horrifying concussion during the game. Tagovailoa completed 17 passes for 145 yards, threw a touchdown against three interceptions, and rushed for 17 yards on two carries. Regardless of Tagovailoa’s performance, concussions are not to be taken lightly. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Minnesota Vikings: Sam Darnold: A-
Darnold played another solid game as the Vikings defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-17. Darnold completed 17 passes for 286 yards, threw two touchdowns against one interception, and rushed for 32 yards on five carries but was sacked three times. Sometimes in the NFL, all it takes is the right coaching staff and talent to help a quarterback play the best football on the field, which is Sam Darnold’s case, as he continues to have a renaissance season as J.J. McCarthy recovers.
New England Patriots: Jacoby Brissett: B-
Jacoby Brissett played a good game despite the Patriots losing 20-23 in overtime. Brissett completed 15 passes for 149 yards and threw a touchdown against no interceptions but was sacked three times. Brissett has performed well in the first two games of the season and has earned the respect of his teammates and coaching staff despite the Pats needing more work from their wide receivers moving forward.
New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr: A-
Carr had another strong performance as he and the Saints marched to a 44-19 statement win over the Dallas Cowboys. Carr completed 11 passes for 243 yards, threw two touchdowns against one interception, rushed for a yard on one carry, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked once. Carr may be living up to his potential so far in his second season in the Big Easy. If Carr continues playing like this, he could potentially win Comeback Player of the Year.
New York Giants: Daniel Jones: C-
Even though the Giants lost to a Washington Commanders team, who beat them with field goals, Daniels Jones improved on his disastrous week one performance. Jones completed 16 passes for 178 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and rushed for 32 yards on five carries but was sacked once. Jones played a lot better in week two and needs to play like this more often if the Giants want to earn that sweet win they’ve been wanting this season.
New York Jets: Aaron Rodgers: B
Rodgers had a very nice Sunday in Music City as the Jets defeated the Tennessee Titans 24-17. Rodgers completed 18 passes for 176 yards and threw two touchdowns against no interceptions but was sacked twice. It was awesome to see Rodgers and Gang Green earn their first win of the season in a very well-played game. Hopefully, Rodgers will continue playing like he did and earn more wins. If he does, he can help the Jets return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 season.
Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: B-
Hurts played a good game throughout the night, but he and the Eagles fell short in their week two 21-22 nail-biting loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Hurts completed 23 passes for 183 yards, threw a touchdown against a very costly game-ending interception caught by Jessie Bates III, rushed for 85 yards on 13 carries, and scored a rushing touchdown. Despite Hurts’ production, the Eagles came up short thanks to Kirk Cousins rallying the Falcons for a last-minute comeback to steal the game away from Hurts and company.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Justin Fields: B
Justin Fields is continuing to have a renaissance season, as the Steelers defeated the Denver Broncos 13-6. Fields completed 13 passes for 117 yards, threw a touchdown pass to Darnell Washington against no interceptions and rushed for 27 yards on eight carries but was sacked twice. Fields is slowly looking better as the Steelers signal caller, thanks to great coaching from NFL offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and quarterbacks coach Tom Arth. Even Ben Roethlisberger said on his podcast, “If Russ is healthy, I’m sticking with Justin. I think he has earned and deserves the right to stay [the starter].” When a Steelers legend praises Fields, people should take notice.
San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy: D
Purdy had a rough afternoon in the 49ers’ 17-23 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Purdy completed 28 passes for 319 yards, threw a touchdown against an interception, and rushed for 12 yards on two carries but was sacked six times. The 49ers’ offensive line was ranked 10th entering week two but allowed six sacks against Purdy in the game, showing the team has a lot of work to do to protect Purdy for the next slate of games coming up.
Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith: B
Geno Smith had a good afternoon as he helped lead the Seahawks to a 23-20 overtime victory against the New England Patriots. Smith completed 33 passes for 327 yards, threw a touchdown against no interceptions, and rushed for eight yards on carries but was sacked three times. Smith played well and commanded a good offense despite the Seahawks’ rushing attack being held to only 46 yards.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield: B-
Even though the Bucs secured the 20-16 victory over the Detroit Lions, Mayfield’s play was only above average. Mayfield completed 12 passes for 185 yards, threw a touchdown against an interception, rushed for 34 yards on five carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked five times. Despite some decent play from Mayfield, the offensive line needs to protect him better, as they started the 2024 season with the 17th-best line in the league, per Pro Football Focus.
Tennessee Titans: Will Levis: C-
Levis played slightly better than he did in week one in the Titans’ 17-24 loss against the New York Jets. Levis completed 19 passes for 192 yards, threw a touchdown against an interception, and rushed for 38 yards on four carries, but was sacked four times and lost a fumble. Despite some slightly improved play from Levis, he threw an incompletion intended for Tyler Boyd when there were 22 seconds left in the game, which gave the Jets the ball and the victory. Levi being sacked four times also shows the Titans need to invest more into their struggling offensive line, which was ranked 30th to begin the 2024 season per Pro Football Focus.
Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels: D+
As the Commanders defeated the New York Giants with seven field goals, Jayden Daniels played an all-right game. Daniels completed 23 passes for 226 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and rushed for 44 yards on 10 carries but was sacked five times. With the lack of receiver help, Daniels is going to have a hard time finding that reliable target on the field and the end zone unless the Commanders make a trade deal for a receiver or sign someone off waivers down the road.
