Week seven of the 2024 NFL season saw some great running backs have some incredible games as they led their teams to victory, thanks to an impressive ground attack. However, some running backs were shut down by opposing defenses or struggled in the backfield, resulting in some adjustments before week eight kicks off.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ running backs after week seven.
Who are the top running backs in the NFL after week 7 of games?
Arizona Cardinals: James Conner: B-
Conner had a very nice night on the ground, even though he didn’t find the end zone in the Cardinals’ 17-15 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Conner rushed for 101 yards on 19 carries and caught two receptions for 51 yards. Conner’s speed on the ground carried the team to a very nice victory, as they currently hold second place in a very competitive NFC West.
Atlanta Falcons: Bijan Robinson: A-
Despite the Falcons losing a tough 14-34 battle at home to the Seattle Seahawks, Bijan Robinson had a very nice afternoon on the ground. Robinson rushed for 103 yards on 21 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught three receptions for 40 yards. Robinson played very well against a very fierce Seahawks’ pass rush despite not much happening on offense for the Falcons for the majority of the game.
Baltimore Ravens: Derrick Henry: B+

Henry started the game slow and eventually found his footing and helped the Ravens earn an impressive 41-31 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Henry rushed for 169 yards on 15 carries, caught a reception for 13 yards, and scored a receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter. Henry’s shine came in the third quarter when he put together an impressive 81-yard run, which eventually led to a second Mark Andrews touchdown.
Buffalo Bills: James Cook: C-
Cook had a decent day on the ground in the Bills’ 34-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Cook rushed for 32 yards on 12 carries and scored a rushing touchdown, while Ray Davis rushed for 41 yards on five carries and scored a rushing touchdown as well. Not one of Cook’s best days on the ground, but he did contribute to scoring for the Bills in the comeback victory.
Carolina Panthers: Chuba Hubbard: C
Even though the Panthers were demolished 7-40 against the Washington Commanders, Chubba Hubbard continues to bring life to the Panthers’ offense. Hubbard rushed for 52 yards on 17 carries and scored the team’s only touchdown. Hubbard continues to be one of the Panthers’ lone bright spots, but the rest of the team needs to drastically improve or hit the reset button when the 2025 offseason begins.
Chicago Bears: D’Andre Swift: Bye Week
Even though Swift started the season slowly, he eventually found his footing and has had two incredible games for the Bears. Swift and company will face a tough test in week eight when they square off against the Washington Commanders on the road.
Cincinnati Bengals: Chase Brown: C-
Brown had a decent afternoon on the ground as he and the Bengals defeated the Cleveland Browns 21-14. Brown rushed for 44 yards on 15 carries and caught two receptions for nine yards. It would’ve been nice to see Brown score a touchdown, but he didn’t make it into the end zone all game.

Cleveland Browns: Nick Chubb: C-
After 13 months of recovering from an injured ACL and MCL, Nick Chubb made his NFL debut despite the Browns losing 14-21 to the Cincinnati Bengals. Chubb rushed for 22 yards on 11 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught a reception for 10 yards. Chubb’s time is going to be limited, as the Browns want to use Chubb slowly. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he doesn’t want to put Chubb in a bad spot and wants to be smart with him.
Dallas Cowboys: Rico Dowdle: Bye Week
Dowdle and the Cowboys have had a very tough season so far. Dowdle needs to step it up as the team travels west and will have a clash against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
Denver Broncos: Javonte Williams: B+
Williams had a rebound game as he and the Broncos defeated the New Orleans Saints 33-10 on the road. Williams rushed for 88 yards on 14 carries, scored two touchdowns, and caught three receptions for 23 yards. Williams looked much better than he did in week six as head coach Sean Payton got the better of his former team, which made him into a household name. Hopefully, Williams continues to play just as well, if not better, moving forward.
Detroit Lions: Jahmyr Gibbs: A+
Gibbs had an incredible game as the Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-29. Gibbs rushed for 116 yards on 15 carries, scored two rushing touchdowns, and caught four receptions for 44 yards. Gibbs looked very sharp as he and David Montgomery look like they both can potentially have 1,000 rushing-yard seasons by the end of the year.
Green Bay Packers: Josh Jacobs: B
Josh Jacobs had a nice day for the Packers as they narrowly defeated the Houston Texans 24-22. Jacobs rushed for 76 yards on 12 carries, caught five receptions for 16 yards, and scored his first receiving touchdown of his NFL career in the win. A good effort by Jacobs as he and the Packers went up against a very tough Texans defense all game and have more to accomplish when they get set for their week eight road trip against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Houston Texans: Joe Mixon: A-
Even with the Texans’ struggles on offense for the majority of their 22-24 loss against the Green Bay Packers, Joe Mixon was the life force that kept the team afloat all game long. Mixon rushed for 115 yards on 25 carries, scored two rushing touchdowns, and caught two receptions for nine yards. If anyone should earn Pro Bowl nods by the end of the season, it should be Mixon for his efforts on the ground for the majority of the season.
Indianapolis Colts: Tyler Goodson: C
Goodson had a decent day on the ground, but Jonathan Taylor did not. Goodson rushed for 51 yards on 14 carries and scored a rushing touchdown in the Colts’ 16-10 ugly win over the Miami Dolphins. Even though Goodson did a decent job in Taylor’s absence, the Colts’ offense is missing Taylor’s strong production as he recovers from a right high ankle sprain.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Tank Bigsby: A
Tank Bigsby had a very productive afternoon as he and the Jaguars defeated the New England Patriots 32-16. Bigsby rushed for 118 yards on 26 carries and scored two touchdowns. Bigsby and the Jaguars’ offense flourished against the woeful Patriots’ defense all afternoon long.
Kansas City Chiefs: Kareem Hunt: B+
Hunt had another nice game for the Chiefs’ offense as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 28-12. Hunt rushed for 78 yards on 22 carries, scored two touchdowns, and caught two receptions for five yards. Hunt played well while Isiah Pacheco continued recovering from his fractured fibula, but no return date has been announced yet. In the meantime, Hunt will continue to get the reps and help the Chiefs earn more wins as the season continues.
Las Vegas Raiders: Alexander Mattison: B-
Even though the Raiders struggled on offense, Alexander Mattison had a very nice game for the Silver and Black. Mattison rushed for 92 yards on 23 carries and caught three receptions for 31 yards. Mattison started the 2024 season slow but managed to find his footing in the Raiders’ offense. However, the Raiders as a whole need to drastically improve as they welcome the Kansas City Chiefs to town for week eight.
Los Angeles Chargers: J.K. Dobbins: D+
Dobbins had a rough night as the Chargers’ running game kept disappearing in their 15-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the desert. Dobbins rushed for 40 yards on 14 carries and caught three receptions for 26 yards. Even though the Chargers have been dealing with injuries at the offensive line, opposing defenses have taken advantage of the struggling run game Dobbins and the Chargers currently have. However, Dobbins and the Bolts need to rebound quickly when they welcome the New Orleans Saints to town in their week eight matchup.
Los Angeles Rams: Kyren Williams: B+
Williams continues to be the heart and soul of the Rams’ offense as they narrowly defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 20-15. The star NFL running back rushed for 76 yards on 21 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns. Regardless of how good and talented Williams is, the Rams need to make sure Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua recover from their injuries and return to the lineup when the time is right.
Miami Dolphins: De’Von Achane: C-
Despite the Dolphins losing an ugly 10-16 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, De’Von Achane had a decent game on the ground. Achane rushed for 77 yards on 15 carries and caught two receptions for eight yards. It would’ve been very nice to see Achane score a touchdown, but sadly, it didn’t happen all game long. Hopefully, Achane and the Dolphins step it up as they get prepared for the Arizona Cardinals coming to South Beach in week eight.
Minnesota Vikings: Aaron Jones: A-
Even though the Vikings lost 29-31 in an afternoon thriller against the Detroit Lions, Jones had a great game. Jones rushed for 93 yards on 14 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught three receptions for 23 yards. Jones continued to flourish in the Vikings’ offense even though the team’s undefeated season came to an abrupt end. Jones and the Vikings should rebound quite nicely when they travel west and square off against the Los Angeles Rams in week eight.
New England Patriots: Rhamondre Stevenson: F
Stevenson and the Patriots’ rushing attack had a brutal afternoon abroad in London and lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 16-32. Stevenson rushed for 18 yards on seven carries and caught two receptions for seven yards. Despite being limited due to a foot injury he suffered in week five, Stevenson was held to under 50 yards in three of his last four games.
New Orleans Saints: Alvin Kamara: F
Kamara had a rough Thursday night as he and the Saints were defeated by the Denver Broncos 10-33. Kamara rushed for 10 yards on seven carries and caught six receptions for 14 yards. Kamara had a rough night for the Saints as he asked his former head coach, Sean Payton, to convince the Broncos higher-ups to trade for him before the trade deadline.
New York Giants: Tyrone Tracy Jr.: F
Tracy Jr. and the Giants completely unraveled as they were demolished 3-28 at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. Tracy Jr. rushed for 23 yards on six carries and caught three receptions for nine yards. A brutal afternoon for Tracy Jr. and the Giants as they need to hit the reset button and fast before their week eight matchup on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football.
New York Jets: Breece Hall: C
Breece Hall had a decent Sunday night as he did what he could for the Jets despite the team unraveling in their 15-37 loss on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The star NFL running back rushed for 38 yards on 12 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught six receptions for 103 yards. Hall may not have topped 50 rushing yards, but he can still be an excellent pass-catcher in the Jets’ offense.
Philadelphia Eagles: Saquon Barkley: A+
Barkley had a monster game against his former team, the New York Giants, in the Eagles’ 28-3 statement victory. Barkley rushed for 176 yards on 17 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught two receptions for 11 yards. Barkley made the Giants regret giving Daniel Jones a massive four-year $160-million contract back in 2023 when Barkley deserved a good chuck on that money. Barkley also has a better offensive line protecting him as the Eagles continue their road trip into week eight, and they square off against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris: A-
Harris had a wonderful Sunday night as he and the Steelers demolished the New York Jets 37-15. Harris rushed for 102 yards on 21 carries and scored a rushing touchdown. Although Harris started the 2024 season slow, he and the Steelers cooked up a great offensive scheme against the Jets and ran right through them for the statement win.
San Francisco 49ers: Jordan Mason: C-
Mason played a rough game as he and the 49ers were outplayed by the Kansas City Chiefs defense in their 12-28 loss, which was also a Super Bowl 58 rematch. Mason rushed for 58 yards on 14 carries and caught two receptions for 11 yards but didn’t score a single touchdown. A tough afternoon for Mason and the 49ers as they need to regroup and get prepared to host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football for week eight.
Seattle Seahawks: Kenneth Walker III: A-
Despite being questionable with an unnamed illness, Walker III played and had a very nice afternoon on his birthday in the Seahawks’ 34-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Walker III rushed for 69 yards on 14 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, caught two receptions for 24 yards, and scored a receiving touchdown. There’s nothing better than scoring two touchdowns on your birthday and winning a football game as well. We can’t wait to see what else this star running back can do as the NFL season continues.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Rachaad White: C+
White had a nice Monday night for the Bucs, even though they fell to the Baltimore Ravens 31-41 in primetime. White rushed for 40 yards on 10 carries, caught six receptions for 71 yards, and scored two touchdowns. White is just one of three main NFL running backs the Bucs have who can cause some serious damage against opponents, no matter the outcome. He also showed that he can be a threat as a pass catcher.
Tennessee Titans: Tony Pollard: C-
Tony Pollard continues to be one of the few bright spots for the Titans’ struggling offense as the team lost 10-34 against the Buffalo Bills. Pollard rushed for 61 yards on 16 carries and caught two receptions for four yards. A tough afternoon for the Titans’ offense as their quarterback and receiver struggles continued while Pollard continued to carry the team on his back.
Washington Commanders: Brian Robinson Jr.: B
Robinson Jr. had a great game for the Commanders as they torched the Carolina Panthers 40-7 at home. Robinson Jr. rushed for 71 yards on 12 carries and scored a touchdown. Robinson Jr. looked good as the Commanders’ offense continued their domination even without Jayden Daniels, who left the game with a rib injury.
