Week four saw some great performances in the backfield as guys like Derrick Henry, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Tony Pollard led their respective teams to victory.
However, some running backs struggled in the backfield, whether it was due to bad play or running into a fierce defense that prevented them from having a strong game.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ running backs after week four.
Who are the running backs that stood out after week 4 of games?
Arizona Cardinals: James Conner: B
Even though the Cardinals painfully lost 14-42 to the Washington Commanders, James Conner had a good day on the ground. Conner rushed for 104 yards on 18 carries, scored a touchdown, and caught a reception for nine yards. Conner most certainly shined, but the Cardinals’ offense struggled for the majority of the game.
Atlanta Falcons: Bijan Robinson: D+
Even though the Falcons earned a very close 26-24 win at home, Bijan Robinson didn’t have his best day on the ground. Robinson rushed for 28 yards on seven carries and caught four receptions for 46 yards, while Tyler Allgeier rushed for 60 yards on eight carries. Robinson will rebound from this game as the Falcons get set for their second-straight divisional matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to open up week five.

Baltimore Ravens: Derrick Henry: A
Henry had another monster game for the Ravens, as they earned a massive 35-10 statement win over the Buffalo Bills. Henry rushed for 199 yards on 24 carries, scored an 87-yard rushing touchdown, caught three receptions for 10 yards, and scored a receiving touchdown. Henry continues to shine in Todd Monken’s offense, making opposing defenses look trivial, as the Bills’ defense had a very hard time trying to tackle him. Continue amazing us, King Henry!
Buffalo Bills: James Cook: D
Cook had an off day, as he and the Bills were flattened by the Baltimore Ravens in their 10-35 loss on Sunday Night Football. Cook rushed for 39 yards on nine carries and caught one reception for nine yards. A complete opposite of Derrick Henry’s night for the Ravens, but Cook and the Bills will bounce back from this painful loss as they get prepared for their week five matchup against the Houston Texans on the road.
Carolina Panthers: Chuba Hubbard: B
The Panthers may not have gotten the win over the Cincinnati Bengals in their 24-34 loss, even though Chubba Hubbard had a very productive afternoon. Hubbard rushed for 104 yards on 18 carries, scored a touchdown, and caught four receptions for 17 receptions. Hubbard is one of the main reasons why the Panthers have a new spark of life since Andy Dalton was named the starting quarterback, replacing Bryce Young. Hopefully, Hubbard will continue to have a very productive 2024 season.
Chicago Bears: D’Andre Swift: A-
D’Andre Swift finally emerged as the Bears’ main rusher as they defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-18. Swift rushed for 93 yards on 16 carries, scored a touchdown, and led the Bears in receiving yards, as he caught seven receptions for 72 yards. After three weeks of near radio silence, Swift came through in the clutch and torched the Rams’ defense in a much-needed victory for the Bears.
Cincinnati Bengals: Chase Brown: B
Chase Brown had a very nice afternoon on the ground for the Bengals as they defeated the Carolina Panthers 34-24. Brown rushed for 80 yards on 15 carries, scored two rushing touchdowns, and caught two receptions for 12 yards. Brown showed that he’s a very good number-two option at running back, while his teammate, Zack Moss, had a nice day in the passing game when he scored a receiving touchdown.
Cleveland Browns: Jerome Ford: C-
Despite Ford having a decent day on the ground, he and the Browns left Las Vegas empty-handed as they fell to the Las Vegas Raiders 16-20. Ford rushed for 53 yards on 10 carries and caught seven receptions for 27 yards. Ford continues to do a decent job for the Browns’ rushing attack. However, Nick Chubb is expected to return to practice after being on the physically unable to perform list as he recovered from his ACL injury from the 2023 season.
Dallas Cowboys: Rico Dowdle: C+
The Cowboys’ rushing attack had a slightly better night than the Giants as Rico Dowdle and company helped the team secure the 20-15 win over the New York Giants. Dowdle rushed for 46 yards on 11 carries, caught one reception for 15 yards, and scored a touchdown. A good night for Dowdle as he and the Cowboys look to stay competitive for control of the NFC East moving forward.
Denver Broncos: Javonte Williams: B-
Javonte Williams had a good day on the ground as he and the Broncos defeated the New York Jets 10-9. Williams rushed for 77 yards on 16 carries and caught two receptions for three yards. A nice afternoon for Williams, as it would’ve been sweeter if he had scored a touchdown in the victory. Hopefully, Williams and the Broncos will continue to make the right moves and earn more wins as the season continues.
Detroit Lions: Jahmyr Gibbs: B+
Gibbs and the Lions’ offense had an incredible Monday night as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks in an all-time thriller. Gibbs rushed for 78 yards on 14 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns, while David Montgomery scored a rushing touchdown of his own in the game. The combination of Gibbs and Montgomery is one for the ages, as they’ll go down as one of the best running back duos in NFL history.
Green Bay Packers: Josh Jacobs: C-
Josh Jacobs had a somewhat productive day, even though the Packers lost 29-31 to the Minnesota Vikings. Jacobs rushed for 51 yards on nine carries on the day. Jacobs still hasn’t scored that elusive rushing touchdown, even though he and the Packers have done the best they can. That first Packers rushing touchdown will eventually happen, and it will be a very exciting day for Jacobs when he scores it.
Houston Texans: Cam Akers: C-
Akers had a decent day on the ground in the Texans 24-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Akers rushed for 53 yards on 13 carries on the day. Akers is filling in okay for Joe Mixon, who is recovering from his ankle injury. Either way, the Texans got the win, which is what mattered at the end of the day.
Indianapolis Colts: Jonathan Taylor: B+
Taylor had a very nice game, as he shredded past the Pittsburgh Steelers’ strong defense in a 27-24 victory. Taylor rushed for 88 yards on 21 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught three receptions for 24 yards on the day. Taylor had a very good game as he and the Colts ended the Steelers’ undefeated season in style despite losing Anthony Richardson to a hip injury.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Tank Bigsby: B-
Even though the Jaguars lost a very tough 20-24 game to the Houston Texans, Tank Bigsby had a good performance on the ground. Bigsby rushed for 90 yards on seven carries. Even though Bigsby and Etienne Jr. did whatever they could to help the Jaguars, their performances weren’t enough, as the Jaguars collapsed in the fourth quarter and are now 0-4.
Kansas City Chiefs: Kareem Hunt: C
Welcome back to Kansas City, Kareem! Kareem Hunt and the Chiefs had a nice afternoon as they came from behind and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 17-10. Hunt rushed for 69 yards on 14 carries and caught two receptions for 16 yards. Hunt should also fill in quite nicely in the Chiefs’ rushing attack while Isiah Pacheco recovers from his fractured fibula.
Las Vegas Raiders: Zamir White: C-
White had a decent afternoon on the ground in the Raiders 20-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns. White rushed for 50 yards on 17 carries on the day. Not the worst day for White, but it would’ve been a lot nicer to see White score his first touchdown of the season, as the Raiders are still reeling from not having Josh Jacobs on the roster.
Los Angeles Chargers: J.K. Dobbins: D
Dobbins and the Chargers had a rough afternoon as they let a 10-0 lead slip away in their 10-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Dobbins rushed for 32 yards on 14 carries and caught three receptions for 30 yards. One of the reasons why Dobbins was a nonfactor for the Chargers was the Chiefs’ defense, which held the Chargers’ rushing attack to a combined 55 yards on the ground all game. Hopefully, Dobbins and the Chargers will turn things around after their week five bye week.
Los Angeles Rams: Kyren Williams: A-
Williams had a very nice afternoon on the ground despite the Rams losing 18-24 to the Chicago Bears. Williams rushed for 94 yards on 19 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught four receptions for 10 yards. Williams had a good game, as the rest of the Rams’ offense has some work to do if they want to stay relevant in the ever-changing 2024 season.
Miami Dolphins: De’Von Achane: F
Achane and the Dolphins once again struggled under the lights as they fell to the Tennessee Titans 12-31. The Dolphins’ running back rushed for 15 yards on 10 carries, while quarterback Tyler Huntley led the team in rushing yards with 40 yards on eight carries and scored the team’s only touchdown. Life without Tua Tagovailoa has been felt on the Dolphins’ offense, obviously, in their last two games. Achane and the offense need to change gears and right the ship for any chance at a somewhat respectable 2024 season.
Minnesota Vikings: Aaron Jones: B
Aaron Jones had a very nice day on the ground as he and the Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers 31-29. Jones rushed for 93 yards on 22 carries but didn’t score a touchdown. Despite not scoring a touchdown, Jones and the Vikings started the game strong and escaped with the win at the very end.
New England Patriots: Rhamondre Stevenson: D+
Stevenson and the Patriots had a very rough Sunday afternoon as they lost 13-30. Stevenson rushed for 43 yards on 13 carries and caught four receptions for 19 yards. Stevenson and the Patriots’ offense needs to rebound fast as the season continues. Stevenson and the Pats return home in week five where they’ll square off against the Miami Dolphins.
New Orleans Saints: Alvin Kamara: B+
Even though the Saints lost a very close and competitive nail-biting battle with the Atlanta Falcons, Kamara had a very good day on the ground. Kamara rushed for 77 yards on 19 carries, scored a touchdown, and caught seven receptions for 42 yards on the afternoon. Kamara was the heartbeat of the offense that kept flowing despite the loss. Kamara and company will rebound from this loss, as they get prepared for their Monday night showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.
New York Giants: Devin Singletary: F
After two decent weeks on the ground, Singletary and the Giants were brought back to earth as they lost to the Dallas Cowboys 15-20. Singletary rushed for 24 yards on 14 carries and caught one reception for 14 yards. It was a brutal Thursday night for Singletary as the Giants need to drastically improve the run game for their week five road trip against the Seattle Seahawks.
New York Jets: Breece Hall: F
It was a very underwhelming afternoon for Breece Hall and the Jets, as they lost an ugly game to the Denver Broncos 9-10. Hall rushed for four yards on 10 carries, had a drop, and had two penalties called against him. It was Hall’s worst game as a Jet. The Jets need to rebound from this painful loss quickly as they travel abroad to London to square off against the Minnesota Vikings in week five.
Philadelphia Eagles: Saquon Barkley: B
The Eagles may not have won against the Bucs even though Saquon Barkley had a nice game on the ground. Barkley rushed for 84 yards on 10 carries and caught two receptions for 32 yards. Although it sucked not seeing Barkley score a touchdown, he did carry the Eagles’ offense and played hard despite the team getting dropped 16-33 against the Bucs. Now Barkley and company can get some rest and regroup in their week five bye week.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris: D
Najee Harris had a very quiet afternoon in the Steelers’ 24-27 loss on the road against the Indianapolis Colts. Harris rushed for 19 yards on 13 carries and caught three receptions for 55 yards. Harris wasn’t able to score any touchdowns on the ground on a very tough afternoon. Hopefully, Harris can turn things around quickly and resume being the bulldozer of a running back he usually is.
San Francisco 49ers: Jordan Mason: A
As Christian McCaffrey continues to recover from his Achilles tendinitis, Jordan Mason continues to shine in the 49ers offense as they defeated the New England Patriots 30-13. Mason rushed for 123 yards on 24 yards, scored a touchdown, and caught two receptions for 37 yards. If McCaffrey is out long-term, Mason will replicate McCaffrey’s work as long as the 49ers’ season keeps rolling.
Seattle Seahawks: Kenneth Walker III: A-
Walker III is back in action after dealing with an oblique injury. Walker III rushed for 80 yards on 12 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns on the night, even though the Seahawks lost 29-42 to the Detroit Lions. Having Walker III back in the lineup for Seattle is going to help the team offensively as they get prepared for their week five matchup against the New York Giants.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bucky Irving: B-
Bucky Irving and the Bucs had a very nice afternoon in their 33-16 Wildcard rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles. Irving rushed for 49 yards on 10 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught one reception for six yards. A good afternoon for Irving, as he and the Bucs get set to open week five of the regular season with a road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
Tennessee Titans: Tony Pollard: B+
Pollard and the Titans’ offense finally earned that elusive first win of the 2024 season, even though the 31-12 victory wasn’t the best game of the season. Pollard rushed for 88 yards on 22 carries, scored a touchdown, and caught two receptions for 20 yards on the night. The Titans’ offense is a bit of a mess, but the running back continues to be a bright spot on that unit.
Washington Commanders: Brian Robinson Jr.: A
Robinson Jr. had an amazing day on the ground as he and the Commanders defeated the Arizona Cardinals 42-14. Robinson Jr. rushed for 101 yards on 21 carries, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught three receptions for 12 yards. Robinson Jr. and the Commanders’ offense is starting to click and press all the right buttons, as they look sharp and should send opposing defenses shivers down the spine.
