Week 13 was a great week for football, as some head coaches around the NFL showed us why they’re very successful at what they do, with their respective teams winning and trying to fight for a spot in the playoffs. However, some head coaches watched their NFL teams completely implode or lose very close games, damaging their chances of making it to the big dance in January. There are only five more weeks of regular season football to go, and a lot can happen in those weeks. We can’t wait to see what these coaches will bring to the field in week 14.
Here are the grades for all 32 NFL teams’ head coaches after week 13 games.
Who are the top NFL head coaches after week 13 of games?
Arizona Cardinals: Jonathan Gannon: C
Gannon’s Cardinals played significantly better than they did in week 12 but couldn’t finish strong, losing 22-23 against the Minnesota Vikings. Kyler Murray threw a touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison Jr. against two interceptions, James Conner had 68 rushing yards, and Trey McBride had 96 receiving yards. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Nick Rallis, had a fumble recovery and five sacks.
Gannon’s squad on offense couldn’t capitalize on scoring in the red zone six times and were penalized eight times. However, the defense kept the team afloat and held the Vikings’ rushing attack to 68 yards on the ground. Gannon’s Cardinals return home for a week 14 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
Atlanta Falcons: Raheem Morris: D
Morris’ Falcons had a rough afternoon, losing a close 13-17 battle against the Los Angeles Chargers. Kirk Cousins threw four interceptions with no touchdowns, Bijan Robinson scored the only touchdown for the Falcons, Ray-Ray McCloud III had 95 yards, and Drake London had 86 yards. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake, stepped up with five sacks against Justin Herbert, and Clark Phillips III had a fumble recovery.

The well-known NFL head coach said he has no issues with Cousins, even though he played his worst game of the 2024 season. Morris praised the defense for their five-sack performance against Justin Herbert. Morris also said it’s up to the team to bounce back and win football games, and he believes Cousins is the best man for the job.
Baltimore Ravens: John Harbaugh: B-
Harbaugh’s Ravens had a tough Sunday at home, as they lost 19-24 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Lamar Jackson threw two touchdowns with no interceptions, Derrick Henry had 82 rushing yards, Zay Flowers had 74 receiving yards, and Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely both scored touchdowns. The defense, coached by Zachary Orr, had two sacks but no interceptions and couldn’t stop Jalen Hurts at the goal line.
Ravens’ kicker Justin Tucker struggled in the game, as he missed an extra point and two field goals. Harbaugh said he won’t replace Tucker and said he’ll be fine. Tucker was seen hugging coach Harbaugh in the second half of the game. Harbaugh and the Ravens head into a bye week in week 14.
Buffalo Bills: Sean McDermott: A-
McDermott’s Bills had a very dominating Sunday night in the snow and defeated the San Francisco 49ers 35-10. Josh Allen threw a touchdown pass to Mack Hollins, scored a rushing touchdown, and threw a pass to Amari Cooper, who then lateraled the pass back to Allen and scored a touchdown, which counted as his second touchdown pass of the night, and James Cook and Ray Davis both scored rushing touchdowns.
The defense, coached by McDermott and defensive coordinator Bobby Babich, had two fumble recoveries and a sack in the game. McDermott’s Bills clinched the AFC East crown and celebrated in the snow by making snow angels. McDermott’s next goal for the Bills is to capture the one seed in the AFC playoff picture.
Carolina Panthers: Dave Canales: B-
Canales’ Panthers played an intense battle against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but fell short 23-26 in overtime. Bryce Young threw a touchdown to Adam Thielen with no interceptions and scored a rushing touchdown. Chuba Hubbard had 43 rushing yards but lost a fumble in overtime. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, had two interceptions and four sacks against Baker Mayfield.
Canales said the team can only control the things they can control and take care of the ball better. Canales’ Panthers travel to hostile territory for a week 14 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
Chicago Bears: Matt Eberflus: D+
Eberflus’ Bears had a rough Thanksgiving, as they lost a heartbreaking 20-23 battle against the Detroit Lions in a failed comeback attempt. Caleb Williams threw three touchdowns against no interceptions, D’Andre Swift had 39 rushing yards, DJ Moore scored a touchdown, and Keenan Allen scored a touchdown.
The Bears’ defense, coached by defensive coordinator Eric Washington, had two sacks and a fumble recovery, but no interceptions. The Bears’ poor clock management towards the very end stung them, resulting in a sixth straight loss and this NFL team’s head coach being shown the exit the day after Thanksgiving.
Bears’ safety Jaquan Brisker took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and posted, “God doesn’t make mistakes,” as a jab towards his former coach. The Bears have named offensive coordinator Thomas Brown as their interim head coach for the rest of the 2024 season.
Cincinnati Bengals: Zac Taylor: B-
Taylor’s Bengals played a good game on offense, but the defense fell flat in the second quarter as the team lost 38-44 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Joe Burrow threw three touchdowns against an interception, Chase Brown scored a rushing touchdown, and Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Andrei Iosivas each scored touchdowns. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, had two sacks and an interception returned for a 51-yard pick-six by Cam Taylor-Britt in the first quarter.
Taylor’s Bengals put up a fight against their AFC North foes, but the final is the final, and they came out on the losing end of a very close and competitive match-up. Anarumo’s defense completely fell flat after the first quarter, and changes need to be made after the 2024 season concludes.

Cleveland Browns: Kevin Stefanski: B-
Stefanski’s Browns put on a show on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos in a high-scoring affair, but they lost 32-41 due to costly interceptions. Jamesis Winston threw four touchdowns against three interceptions, Jerome Ford had 41 rushing yards, Nick Chubb caught a receiving touchdown, David Njoku caught two touchdowns, and Jerry Jeudy had 235 receiving yards and scored a touchdown. The defense, coached by Jim Schwartz, had two interceptions but no sacks against Bo Nix.
Stefanksi said he was very disappointed with the game as the team couldn’t get a win in the Mile High City, and the message after the game was, “We’re going to get back to work, keep our heads down, and come back out swinging.” Stefanski and the Browns travel to the Keystone State for a week 14 divisional showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dallas Cowboys: Mike McCarthy: C+
McCarthy’s Cowboys had a good Thanksgiving, as they defeated the New York Giants 27-20 at home. Cooper Rush threw a touchdown to Brandin Cooks, Rico Dowdle scored a rushing touchdown, and KaVontae Turpin had 53 receiving yards. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, had six sacks and a fumble recovery, and DeMarvion Overshown had an interception returned for a 23-yard pick-six.
McCarthy said the players have a different yet good feeling after defeating the Giants, but they are in the valley of adversity and have a long way to go if they want to make a potential playoff run.
Denver Broncos: Sean Payton: A-
Payton’s Broncos played an incredible back-and-forth battle against the Cleveland Browns and won 41-32. Bo Nix threw a touchdown to Marvin Mims Jr. against two interceptions, Jaleel McLaughlin had 84 rushings, Michael Burton and Javonte Williams both scored rushing touchdowns, and Courtland Sutton had 102 receiving yards.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, had three sacks and three interceptions, and two of those interceptions were returned for pick-sixes. Payton was very impressed with the direction of the game and made enough plays in the end to win. Payton’s Broncos enter their week 14 bye week on a positive note.
Detroit Lions: Dan Campbell: A-
The Lions played a very good Thanksgiving, as they defeated the Chicago Bears 23-20. Spearheaded by renowned NFL head coach Dan Campbell, Jared Goff threw two touchdowns to Sam LaPorta, David Montgomery had 88 rushing yards, Jahmyr Gibbs had 87 rushing yards, and Amon-Ra St. Brown had 73 receiving yards. The Lions’ defense, coached by defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, had five sacks against Caleb Williams.
Campbell said after the game, “If you’re not careful, then you start taking these wins for granted.” Campbell’s Lions also earned the team their first win on Thanksgiving since 2016 and have a lot of football left as the 2024 season continues.
Green Bay Packers: Matt LaFleur: B+
LeFleur’s Packers had a great Thanksgiving night as they defeated the Miami Dolphins 30-17 under the lights. Jordan Love threw two touchdowns to Jayden Reed with no interceptions, Josh Jacobs scored a rushing touchdown, and Tucker Kraft had 78 receiving yards. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, had five sacks against the Dolphins and a fumble recovery on special teams.
As good as LeFleur’s Packers are, the team still has to clean their penalties up, as the team had four offsides penalties in the game. LaFleur and the Packers open week 14 up with a Thursday night showdown against the Detroit Lions in the Motor City.
Houston Texans: DeMeco Ryans: B
Ryans’ Texans played a very competitive divisional battle against the Jacksonville Jaguars and won 23-20. C.J. Stroud threw a touchdown pass to Dalton Schultz, Joe Mixon scored a rushing touchdown, and Nico Collins had 119 receiving yards. The defense, coached by Ryans and defensive coordinator Matt Burke, had an interception from Derek Stingley Jr. and held the Jaguars’ rushing attack to 97 yards on the ground.
Even though Ryans’ Texans earned the win, the game had controversy, as linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair had a dirty hit on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who was slid on the field and suffered a concussion from that hit. Ryans defended Al-Shaair and said quarterbacks try to take advantage of sliding late, but it was unfortunate that Lawrence got hurt, and he hoped he was okay.
Al-Shaair apologized for the hit the day after the game, and the league suspended him for three games. Ryans’ Texans head into a week 14 bye week and will return to action in week 15 when they host the Miami Dolphins.
Indianapolis Colts: Shane Steichen: C+
Steichen’s Colts played a very close game against the New England Patriots on the road and emerged as victors in their 25-24 last-second victory. Anthony Richardson threw two touchdowns against two interceptions and scored a rushing touchdown. Jonathan Taylor had 96 rushing yards and seven receiving yards and scored a receiving touchdown, Michael Pittman Jr. had 42 receiving yards, and Alec Pierce scored the game-winning touchdown.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, had four sacks and an interception but had trouble against the run and the Patriots’ tight ends. Steichen said it was a great team win, as the team found a way to get it done in the fourth quarter and kept their playoff hopes alive.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Doug Pederson: C
Pederson’s Jaguars had a good fourth quarter against the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, the Jaguars lost the game 20-23 and lost Trevor Lawrence to a concussion after taking a nasty hit from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Mac Jones threw two touchdowns with no interceptions, Travis Etienne Jr. had 46 rushing yards, and Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. both scored touchdowns.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, had two sacks but no interceptions against C.J. Stroud. Pederson saw Trevor Lawrence at halftime, as he had to go through concussion protocol, and added that Al-Shaair’s hit was a hit no one wanted to see in the league. Despite the loss, Pederson’s Jaguars nearly won via a comeback attempt, and Jones showed signs of improvement on the field.
Kansas City Chiefs: Andy Reid: B+
Reid’s Chiefs played a very close and competitive battle against the Las Vegas Raiders and emerged as victors, as they narrowly defeated them 19-17. Patrick Mahomes threw a touchdown to Justin Watson with no interceptions. The Chiefs’ rushing attack was held to a combined 63 rushing yards; DeAndre Hopkins had 90 receiving yards, and Travis Kelce had 68 receiving yards. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, had three sacks and the game-ending fumble recovery against Aiden O’Connell.
The famous NFL head coach had a stern message for the Chiefs’ offensive line, who allowed five sacks against Mahomes, by benching Wanya Morris in favor of guard Joe Thuney. “Wanya. He was struggling a little bit… We made that move just to solidify things. Pat took a few hits there. We were struggling at times.” Reid said after the game. Despite the offensive line struggles, Reid’s Chiefs continue to find ways to win games and are still Super Bowl favorites.
Las Vegas Raiders: Antonio Pierce: C
Pierce’s Raiders played a very competitive battle on Black Friday against their longtime AFC West rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, but lost in the final seconds in a very close 17-19 final. Aiden O’Connell threw two touchdowns with no interceptions, Sincere McCormick had 64 rushing yards, and Brock Bowers and Tre Tucker both scored touchdowns.
The defense, coached by Pierce and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, had five sacks against Patrick Mahomes but no interceptions. Pierce was proud of his team for battling until the very end, but their efforts were undone by Aiden O’Connell’s lost fumble with 15 seconds left in the game.
Los Angeles Chargers: Jim Harbaugh: C
Harbaugh’s Chargers didn’t play a great game, but they managed to secure the 17-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons on the road. Justin Herbert threw no touchdowns or interceptions but was sacked five times, the Chargers’ rushing attack was held to a combined 56 yards on the ground, and Ladd McConkey had 117 receiving yards.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, had a sack and four interceptions, with one of them returned for a 61-yard pick-six by Tarheeb Still. Harbaugh told reporters after the game the team needed to improve on offense but praised the positivity from the game by saying, “It’s a beautiful thing we’re witnessing. Complimentary football. We weren’t our best offensively. But that two-point conversion, it’s as big as any two-point conversion you can have in a game.” Harbaugh and the Chargers travel back west for a week 14 divisional showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
Los Angeles Rams: Sean McVay: B
McVay’s Rams started their game against the New Orleans Saints slowly but managed to come back and win 21-14. Matthew Stafford threw two touchdowns with no interceptions, Kyren Williams scored a rushing touchdown, and Puka Nacua and Demarcus Robinson both scored touchdowns. This NFL team’s head coach did his job well.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Chris Shula, had had no sacks or interceptions in the game. McVay was very proud of Williams’ bounce-back performance in the game, and the team needs to carry their winning momentum for the remainder of the season, with five more weeks to go.
Miami Dolphins: Mike McDaniel: D
McDaniel’s Dolphins have had their good moments throughout the 2024 season, but they couldn’t withstand the cold weather in their 17-30 loss against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving night. Tua Tagovailoa threw two touchdowns with no interceptions, the Dolphins’ rushing attack was held to 39 yards, Jonnu Smith had 113 receiving yards, and Tyreek Hill and De’Von Achane scored receiving touchdowns.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, couldn’t even land a single sack or interception against Jordan Love. McDaniel’s mistake in the game was trying to go for it on fourth down on the goal line instead of going for a field goal, a play McDaniel wished he had back.
Former running back Reggie Bush, who played for the Miami Dolphins from 2011 until 2012, wrote on Instagram, “Fire the coach. He should have never had the opportunity he sucks.” McDaniel’s Dolphins have also struggled in the cold weather, as the team is 0-12 in games where the temperature is under 40 degrees.
Minnesota Vikings: Kevin O’Connell: B
O’Connell’s Vikings played a good game against the Arizona Cardinals and won 23-22. Sam Darnold threw two touchdowns with no interceptions, Aaron Jones had 22 rushing yards and six receiving yards and scored a touchdown, Justin Jefferson had 99 receiving yards, and Johnny Mundt scored a touchdown.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Brian Flores, had two interceptions and a sack against Kyler Murray. O’Connell was very impressed with the defense and the offense as the Vikings earned their 10th win of the 2024 season. O’Connell’s Vikings remain home in week 14 and will welcome the Atlanta Falcons to town.
New England Patriots: Jerod Mayo: C-
Mayo’s Patriots played a hard-fought battle against the Indianapolis Colts but came up short in their 24-25 last-second loss. Drake Maye threw a touchdown to Austin Hooper against an interception, Rhamondre Stevenson had 73 rushing yards, and Antonio Gibson scored a rushing touchdown. The defense, coached by Mayo and defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington, had two interceptions against Anthony Richardson but no sacks at all.
Mayo’s Patriots continue to struggle with penalties and are not able to learn from their mistakes. However, the biggest mistake the Patriots made was to have Joey Slye attempt to kick a 68-yard field goal, which failed. Mayo’s Patriots luckily enter a week 14 bye week as a good time to regroup for the rest of the season.
New Orleans Saints: Darren Rizzi: B-
After a 2-0 start, this NFL team’s head coach, Darren Rizzi, magic wore off in the Saints 14-21 loss against the Los Angeles Rams. Derek Carr threw a touchdown to Marques Valdez-Scantling, Alvin Kamara had 112 rushing yards, and Taysom Hill had 37 receiving yards but left the game with a torn ACL, effectively ending his 2024 season.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Joe Woods, had two sacks but no interceptions. If Rizzi’s Saints won the game, it would’ve potentially solidified him as the head coach of the team in 2025. Rizzi said his team was upset after the loss and that the game was in their grasp until the second half. Rizzi’s Saints travel to the Northeast for a week 14 match-up against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
New York Giants: Brian Daboll: D
Daboll’s Giants had a rough afternoon in AT&T Stadium, as they lost 20-27 against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Drew Lock threw a costly interception and scored a rushing touchdown, Tyrone Tracy Jr. scored a rushing touchdown, and Malik Nabers had 69 receiving yards. The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, had no sacks or interceptions and had a hard time trying to curtail Rico Dowdle from having an excellent performance.
Even though Daboll can’t seem to rally the team to victory, he isn’t concerned about his job security after the Giants lost their seventh straight game and were knocked out of playoff contention.
New York Jets: Jeff Ulbrich: C
Ulbrich’s Jets had a 21-16 lead over the Seattle Seahawks at halftime in a very wild game, but the Seahawks marched their way back and defeated Ulbrich’s unit 21-26. Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdowns against a costly interception, Breece Hall had 60 rushing yards but lost a fumble, Davante Adams and Isaiah Davis both scored touchdowns, and Kene Nwangwu scored a touchdown on a kick return.
On defense, the Jets had three sacks but no interceptions. Rumors began to surface about Aaron Rodgers potentially not playing for the Jets in the future and have taken over sports media. Ulbrich said Rodgers gives the team their best chance to win. Ulbrich and the Jets have five games left in the regular season, and their playoff hopes have completely shrunk.
Philadelphia Eagles: Nick Sirianni: A-
Sirianni’s Eagles had another excellent game and won 24-19 against the Baltimore Ravens. Jalen Hurts threw a touchdown to Dallas Goedert and scored a rushing touchdown, and Saquan Barkley scored a rushing touchdown.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, had three sacks but no interceptions. Sirianni’s Eagles have turned the page after their slow 2-2 start and have continued to outplay their opponents and dominate in style. Sirianni’s Eagles return home and will welcome the Carolina Panthers to town in week 14.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Tomlin: B+
Tomlin’s Steelers had a great afternoon in Southwestern Ohio, as they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in a very competitive 44-38 divisional battle. Russell Wilson threw three touchdowns against an interception, Najee Harris scored a rushing touchdown, and George Pickens, Calvin Austin III, and Pat Freiermuth each scored touchdowns. The defense, coached by Tomlin and defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, had four sacks, an interception, and three fumble recoveries, one of which was recovered by Payton Wilson for a 21-yard touchdown. Tomlin’s team looked incredible on all sides of the ball.
However, Pickens’ on-the-field behavior drew him two penalties, and Tomlin said, “You know he has to grow u,p man. He’s got a target on his back because he’s George, but he has to grow up. He has to grow up in a hurry.” The Steelers return home for another divisional showdown against the Cleveland Browns coming to town.
San Francisco 49ers: Kyle Shanahan: D-
Shanahan’s 49ers had a very rough Sunday night, as they not only couldn’t handle the snow. Additionally, they were defeated 10-35 against the Buffalo Bills. Brock Purdy threw no touchdowns or interceptions, Isaac Guerendo scored the team’s only touchdown, Jordan Mason had 78 rushing yards, and Jauan Jennings had 56 receiving yards.
The defense, coached by defensive coordinator Nick Sorenson, couldn’t land a sack or interception against Josh Allen. The 49ers losing three fumbles certainly affected the team. As Shanahan said, the passing attack struggled all game long.
This NFL team’s head coach also said the team lost Christian McCaffrey to a season-ending PCL injury. Shanahan’s 49ers return home in week 14 and will host the Chicago Bears coming to town.
Seattle Seahawks: Mike Macdonald: B-
Macdonald’s Seahawks played a competitive battle against the New York Jets, but they came back from behind and won 26-21. Geno Smith threw a touchdown with no interceptions, Zach Charbonnet scored a rushing touchdown, AJ Barner scored a touchdown, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 74 receiving yards.
The defense, coached by Macdonald and defensive coordinator Aden Durde, had two sacks, and Leonard Williams had an interception returned for a 92-yard pick-six. Macdonald’s Seahawks had a bit of a sloppy afternoon regarding special teams, but the team rallied and kept the Jets out of the end zone in the second half of the game, and have full command of first place in the NFC West… for now.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Todd Bowles: B-
Bowles’ Buccaneers played a neck-and-neck battle against the Carolina Panthers and won 26-23 in overtime. Baker Mayfield struggled as he threw two interceptions against a touchdown pass to Mike Evans. Bucky Irving had 152 rushing yards and scored a touchdown. The defense had a sack and a fumble recovery in overtime, which saved the Bucs’ chances of winning, as kicker Chase McLaughlin kicked the game-winning field goal to close the game out in the Bucs’ favor.
Bowles said Irving is getting more comfortable with the offense, and the team got it done on both sides of the ball. Bowles and the Bucs return home for a week 14 showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders coming to town.
Tennessee Titans: Brian Callahan: C-
Callahan’s Titans had some decent moments in the second half of their battle against the Washington Commanders, but the good moments were overshadowed in their 19-42 beatdown loss. Will Levis threw two touchdowns to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Tony Pollard had 35 rushing yards, and Calvin Ridley had 45 receiving yards. The defense, coached by Dennard Wilson, had two sacks and an interception.
Callahan’s Titans were hurt by losing two fumbles in the first half, which resulted in two touchdowns for the Commanders. Callahan said it was crushing to watch the first half, as turnovers and penalties hurt the Titans despite making some good strides in the second half, which ultimately wasn’t enough.
Washington Commanders: Dan Quinn: A-
Quinn and the Commanders had a very impressive rebound game and dismantled the Tennessee Titans 42-19. Jayden Daniels threw three touchdowns against an interception and scored a rushing touchdown, Brian Robinson Jr. and Chris Rodriguez Jr. scored rushing touchdowns, Zach Ertz scored a touchdown, and Terry McLaurin scored two touchdowns.
The defense, coached by Quinn and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr., had two sacks and two fumble recoveries. Quinn praised the offense for making plays and being decisive. The Commanders enter a week 14 bye week on a positive note.
