After another very exciting week of NFL Action, there was a lot of great games with great performances from some quarterbacks including two come from behind victories, and other quarterbacks have to head back into the film room and improve on their craft for the following weeks as the season continues to move forward.
Here is where all 32 NFL Teams quarterbacks look after week 9 games:
Arizona Cardinals: Clayton Tune: F (Last week D+)
With Joshua Dobbs shipped out of the desert to Minnesota and Kyler Murray still recovering from ACL surgery, the Cardinals turned to Clayton Tunes and he flopped. Tune completed 11 passes for 58 yards, threw two interceptions, no touchdown passes, rushed for 28 yards on five carries, and was sacked seven times. If the Cardinals move forward with Tune, check your expectations at the door, as it will be a challenge for the Red Birds to earn more wins moving forward.
Atlanta Falcons: Taylor Heinicke: C (Last week D-)
With Desmond Ridder out, Taylor Heinicke is in and he did a fair job leading the Falcons on the field despite losing in the last seconds to the Vikings 31-28. Heinicke completed 21 passes for 268 yards, threw one touchdown against one interception, and rushed for 20 yards on three carries but was sacked three times. Heinicke can be a good game manager for Atlanta similar to his time in Washington. However, Heinicke needs to secure the win to avoid eager opponents from coming back against his team!
Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson: A- (Last week B)

Lamar Jackson may not have thrown a touchdown all game but still was an effective game manager all day. Jackson completed 21 passes for 187 yards and rushed for 60 yards on 10 carries. Jackson and the high-powered Ravens offense made quick work of an on-the-rise Seahawks team with ease. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley did throw a touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr., giving him his first touchdown of the season, as a bonus for Baltimore.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen: C (Last week B)
Josh Allen played a good game and almost led the Bills to a victory from behind in Cincinnati but the Bills fell short. Allen completed 26 passes for 258 yards, threw a touchdown against one interception, rushed for 44 yards on eight carries, and scored a rushing touchdown. It’s never easy playing a very tough and physical opponent on the road and Josh Allen fell short of earning the victory.
Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young: D (Last week C)
It was a rough day for Bryce Young as he and the Panthers fell to the Indianapolis Colts 27-13. Young completed 24 passes for 173 yards, threw one touchdown against three interceptions, and rushed for 41 yards on five attempts but was sacked four times. Young needs better pass protection to make explosive plays otherwise he’ll continue to struggle and will most likely give the Panthers more losses.
Chicago Bears: Tyson Bagent: D+ (Last week D)
Tyson Bagent played slightly better than he did in week eight, but still made costly mistakes that hurt the Bears in their 17-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Bagent completed 25 passes for 220 yards, threw two touchdowns against three interceptions, and rushed for 70 yards on eight carries but was sacked twice. Bagent is doing whatever he can with a weak Chicago offense but needs better pass protection to make more explosive passing plays.
Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow: B+ (Last week B+)
Joe Burrow played a strong game against the visiting Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football. Burrow completed 31 passes for 348 yards, threw two touchdowns against zero interceptions, and rushed for four yards on five carries. It was a very productive day for the young signal caller who looks to possibly return to the Super Bowl and finish what he wasn’t able to obtain in Super Bowl 56.
Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson: A- (Last week D+)
Deshaun Watson came back strong after dealing with concussions and delivered a great performance against the Red Birds. Watson completed 19 passes for 219 yards, threw two touchdowns against zero interceptions, and rushed for 22 yards on three carries but was sacked once. If Watson stays healthy for the rest of the season and plays like this, expect Watson and the Browns to possibly make the playoffs.
Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott: B- (Last week A-)
Dak Prescott and company almost pulled a comeback win in Lincoln Financial Field against their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles but came up short. Prescott completed 29 passes for 374 yards, threw three touchdowns against zero interceptions, and rushed for 14 yards on six carries but was sacked five times. Prescott played a great game, but ultimately came short of winning. Prescott and the Cowboys will rebound from this loss in the coming weeks.
Denver Broncos: Russell Wilson: Bye Week (Last week B-)
Russell Wilson has been playing better as of late but he needs to continue to play like he did in week eight otherwise the Broncos will continue to be bottom feeders in the AFC West.
Detroit Lions: Jared Goff: Bye Week (Last week B-)
Jared Goff has truly changed the way the Lions are looked at despite a week seven drop to the Baltimore Ravens. If Goff continues to play like he did in week eight and more, the Lions will possibly go far in the playoffs!
Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love: C- (Last week D)
Jordan Love finally led the Packers to a victory and snapped a four-game losing streak to the Los Angeles Rams. Love completed 20 passes for 228 yards, threw one touchdown against zero interceptions and rushed for seven yards on four carries but was sacked four times. Love needs to step up and help the Packers secure more wins if they want to be relevant in the NFC North.
Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud: B+ (Last week C-)
C.J. Stroud had quite the game against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he led the Texans to a come-from-behind victory with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Stroud completed 30 passes for 470 yards, threw five touchdowns against zero interceptions, and rushed for 10 yards on zero carries, but was sacked three times. If Stroud continues to play like this, he can potentially get the Texans to the playoffs and possibly a Wildcard victory!
Indianapolis Colts: Gardner Minshew: B- (Last week C)
Gardner Minshew played a very decent game against the Carolina Panthers. He completed 17 passes for 127 yards, threw one touchdown against zero interceptions, and rushed for five yards on five carries but was sacked one time. Minshew continues to show how he’s one of the best backup quarterbacks in the league with his performance and his game-managing skills to help the Colts secure the 27-13 win over Carolina.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence: Bye Week (Last week C+)
Lawrence is continuing to get better with each passing week and has the opportunity to turn the Jacksonville Jaguars into a true winner.
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes: B+ (Last week D)
Patrick Mahomes made a massive step up in the Chiefs week nine 21-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Mahomes completed 20 passes for 185 yards and threw two touchdowns against zero interceptions but was sacked twice. Mahomes also rushed for 24 yards on six carries. Mahomes continues to be a dominant force at the quarterback position and can potentially get back to the Super Bowl if he continues to play great.
Las Vegas Raiders: Aidan O’Connell: C+ (Last week D)
Aidan O’Connell got the nod to start in week nine after Jimmy Garoppolo struggled in his week eight performance. O’Connell completed 16 passes for 209 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and was not sacked either. O’Connell played a fair and average game manager as he helped the Raiders secure a well-deserved victory. This was a good turn after all the Raiders have been through under Josh McDaniels’ rule for a large chunk of the season.
Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert: C- (Last week A-)
Justin Herbert may not have had a productive week like he did in week eight but he and the Chargers secured a 27-6 victory over the New York Jets. Herbert completed 16 passes for 136 yards, did not throw any touchdowns or interceptions, and rushed for 17 yards on three carries but was sacked five times. Herbert is a great quarterback but this wasn’t particularly his best game performance wise as it was a victory for Herbert as a game manager and having a good Charger’s defense helping out in a huge way throughout the game.
Los Angeles Rams: Brett Rypien: F (Last week D+)
It was a rough day for backup quarterback Brett Rypien in Lambeau Field. Rypien completed 13 passes for 130 yards, threw one interception against no touchdowns, and rushed for 19 yards on three carries but was sacked once. Rypien needs to step up as a backup while Matthew Stafford recovers from a thumb injury.
Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa: B- (Last week B)
Tua Tagovailoa didn’t play badly in Frankfurt, but couldn’t get the Dolphins the victory against the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany. Tagovailoa completed 21 passes for 193 yards, threw one touchdown against zero interceptions, and rushed for seven yards on two carries but was sacked three times. Tagovailoa is a great leader for the Dolphins but needs to get it going against playoff-caliber teams as the season continues to wind down to the end.
Minnesota Vikings: Joshua Dobbs: B+ (Last week B)
Freshly traded from his time in Arizona and to fill in for an injured Kirk Cousins, Dobbs had a great Vikings debut against the Atlanta Falcons. Dobbs completed 20 passes for 158 yards, threw two touchdowns against zero interceptions, rushed for 66 yards on seven carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked three times. Dobbs may have secured one win during his time in the desert, but a fresh change of scenery is exactly what he needs to help keep the Vikings afloat in the NFC North.
New England Patriots: Mac Jones: C- (Last week C)
Mac Jones may be struggling sometimes, but he can play decent enough to keep the Patriots in games despite losing to the Washington Commanders 17-20. Jones completed 24 passes for 220 yards, threw one touchdown against one interception, and rushed for three yards on three carries. Jones also wasn’t sacked in the game which was a plus but the Patriots have struggled this season and need to step it up for the remain weeks or just tank the rest of the way to earn a high draft pick.
New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr: B (Last week B-)
Derek Carr had a very nice performance against the struggling Chicago Bears. Carr completed 25 passes for 211 yards, threw two touchdowns against zero interceptions, and was not sacked once in the entire game. Tayson Hill also had some action at quarterback as he completed one pass for three yards and scored a touchdown. Carr needs to play like this to secure the NFC South championship from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who lost a nail-biter to the Houston Texans.
New York Giants: Tommy DeVito: D+ (Last week D-)
Daniel Jones did start this game originally but suffered a serious knee injury that forced him out of the game giving Tommy DeVito the keys to the Giants’ offense. DeVito completed 15 passes for 175 yards, threw one touchdown against two interceptions, and was sacked six times while Jones was sacked twice. It was a brutal loss for DeVito and company. Could it possibly get worse for the Giants in the coming weeks? It certainly could, if they continue to flop against their opponents, like we saw in week nine.
New York Jets: Zach Wilson: D (Last week C-)
It was a very tough night for Zach Wilson as he and Gang Green fell to the Los Angeles Chargers 27-6. Wilson completed 33 passes for 263 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions and was sacked eight times. The offensive line needs to protect Wilson better if he wants to make game changing plays and Wilson also needs to step up despite facing a very tough and intimidating Chargers defense.
Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: A (Last week A-)
Jalen Hurts and company put on a show against their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. Hurts completed 17 passes for 207 yards, threw two touchdowns against zero interceptions, rushed for 36 yards on 10 carries, and scored a rushing touchdown. It was a powerful performance by Hurts who can potentially win the NFL MVP and possibly a Super Bowl championship.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Kenny Pickett: B- (Last week D)
It was not a bad night for Kenny Pickett as he completed 19 passes for 160 yards, threw one touchdown against no interceptions, and was not sacked all game. Pickett can play great football, but he needs his offensive coordinator, Matt Canada, to step up or step aside and Pickett’s production would truly be elevated.
San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy: Bye Week (Last week D+)
Brock Purdy’s recent struggles in the last three weeks are very concerning but he needs to bury all of that behind him and move on to play much better in the 49er’s upcoming games.
Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith: F (Last week C-)
It was a very bad day for Geno Smith as he was smothered by the Raven’s defense all game. Smith completed 13 passes for 157 yards, threw no touchdowns, threw one interception, and was sacked four times. This loss may be a serious concern on whether the Seahawks can be competitors in the NFC West. Either way, Smith and the rest of the Seahawks need to put this loss behind them and move on to the next game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield: B- (Last week B-)
Baker Mayfield can play and be a good leader, but he needs to step it up and secure victories for the Buccaneers. Mayfield completed 21 passes for 265 yards, threw two touchdowns against zero interceptions, and rushed for four yards on four carries but was sacked twice in the game. Mayfield still has a lot of learning to do on this Bucs’ offense but can improve as the second half of the season winds on down to the finish line.
Tennessee Titans: Will Levis: C- (Last week A)
Will Levis took a step back from his awesome week eight performance to a touchdown-less week nine performance against a metal wall in the Steeler’s defense. Levis completed 22 passes for 262 yards, threw one interception, no touchdowns, and was sacked four times. Growing pains are expected, but Levis needs to put this loss behind him and step up for the Titan’s remaining games and prepare to become the Titan’s starter for next season.
Washington Commanders: Sam Howell: C+ (Last week B)
Sam Howell may not have played his best game in Foxborough, MA, but he did help the Commanders secure a 20-17 victory over the New England Patriots. Howell completed 29 passes for 245 yards, threw one touchdown against one interception, and rushed for 27 yards on five carries but was sacked three times. Howell isn’t a bad quarterback, but he isn’t a good quarterback either. He needs up his game for the coming weeks as the Commanders journey through the second half of the 2023 season.
