Some quarterbacks had a rebound week and turned their misfortunes into solid success. Others, however, left their fans scratching their heads, and some may have led their teams to victory but got bitten by the injury bug.
Here is where all 32 NFL Teams quarterbacks look after week 8 games:
Arizona Cardinals: Joshua Dobbs: D+ (Last week D+)
Joshua Dobbs is a good backup quarterback, but it seems he cannot finish games with a victory. Dobbs completed 25 passes for 208 yards, threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, rushed for 26 yards on six yards, and scored a rushing touchdown. Dobbs was also sacked twice but still played with grit and strength despite the 31-24 loss for Arizona.
Atlanta Falcons: Desmond Ridder: D- (Last week C)
It was quite a bad week for Desmond Ridder. He threw for 71 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions in the Falcons’ week eight matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Ridder was sacked five times in the game before leaving the game with a concussion which gave Taylor Heinicke the nod. Taylor completed 12 passes for 175 yards, threw one touchdown and no interceptions and was sacked once. The Falcons moving forward in the coming weeks need to let Ridder recover before giving him the keys to the offense back. For now, it’s Heinicke’s show and he proved he can play football as a reliable backup.
Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson: B (Last week A)

Lamar Jackson played a good game against the Cardinals despite getting sacked four times in the game. Jackson completed 18 passes for 157 yards, threw a touchdown against no interceptions, and rushed for 17 yards on five carries. Jackson is a great quarterback who can play despite some lingering doubts about his ability to be a leader. It’s upward for Jackson and company as the season continues to move forward.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen: B (Last week C-)
Josh Allen and company turned their week seven loss into a massive week eight victory on Thursday Night Football against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Allen completed 31 passes for 324 yards, threw two touchdowns against one interception, rushed for 41 yards on seven carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked twice. With this week eight win, the week seven loss to New England is officially water under the bridge for Allen as he continues to show why the AFC East runs through Buffalo.
Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young: C (Last week Bye Week)
Bryce Young finally led the Panthers to their first win of the season in their week eight 15-13 victory over the Houston Texans. Young completed 22 passes for 235 yards, and threw one touchdown against no interceptions but was sacked six times. Young is a decent quarterback for the Panthers, however, their defense has been holding the team back from earning more wins in the previous weeks. With the defensive support needed, Young can potentially help the Panthers earn more wins as the season continues into the second half!
Chicago Bears: Tyson Bagent: D (Last week B)
Tyson Bagent took a massive step back on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. Bagent completed 25 passes for 232 yards, threw two interceptions and no touchdowns, and rushed for negative one yard on four carries and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked once by the Chargers defense. Bagent ran into a tougher Chargers team that put up much tougher playmakers than their week seven matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. Bagent needs to step up and be prepared for even tougher competition coming up especially if Justin Fields isn’t back.
Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow: B+ (Last week Bye Week)
Joe Burrow had another impressive game on the road against the San Francisco 49ers. Burrow completed 28 passes for 283 yards, threw three touchdowns and no interceptions, and rushed for 43 yards on six carries but was sacked three times on the day. Burrow is a true elite quarterback who will potentially capture a Lombardi Trophy if he continues to play the solid game he is playing today.
Cleveland Browns: PJ Walker: D+ (Last week D+)
PJ Walker did not have the best day in Seattle but could’ve played a heck of a lot worse. Walker completed 15 passes for 248 yards, threw a touchdown pass against two interceptions, and rushed for 27 yards on six carries. Walker is a reliable backup, but is not the main guy in Cleveland for the long-term. He cannot continue to rely on the defense to bail him out.
Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott: A- (Last week Bye Week)
Dak Prescott coming off a bye week had quite the game against the Los Angeles Rams defense. Prescott completed 25 passes for 304 yards and threw four touchdowns against one interception, but was sacked the times. Two of Prescott’s touchdowns were caught by CeeDee Lam who also had himself quite a day. Prescott’s performance can’t be ignored as this was an Offensive Player of the Year type performance against the Rams.
Denver Broncos: Russell Wilson: B- (Last week C+)
This was the Russell Wilson that looked like the Wilson we saw during his time in Seattle. Wilson completed 12 passes for 114 yards, threw three touchdowns against zero interceptions, and rushed for 30 yards on eight carries. Wilson proved he still has a lot of talent left even though the Denver Broncos have been an absolute disaster of a team when it comes to earning wins.
Detroit Lions: Jared Goff: B- (Last week D)
After week seven’s very bad performance, Jared Goff came back and shined under the lights of Monday Night Football. Goff completed 26 passes for 272 yards, threw one touchdown against one interception (which was a 75-yard pick-sick by Marcus Peters), and was not sacked once in the entire game. Goff played his heart out when it mattered most and made the best of playing on Monday Night Football.
Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love: D (Last week C-)
Jordan Love did not look good in the Packer’s week eight loss at home to the Minnesota Vikings. Love completed 24 passes for 229 yards, threw one touchdown against one interception, and was sacked four times. Love needs to step his game up, big time, if he wants to be the new face of the Packers franchise he inherited from his predecessor Aaron Rodgers.
Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud: C- (Last week Bye Week)
Even though the Texans lost to Carolina, C.J. Stroud played okay. Stroud completed 16 passes for 140 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, rushed for 13 yards on two carries, and scored a rushing touchdown but was sacked twice. Stroud is a good quarterback, but this wasn’t his best game even. Certainly, Stroud will learn from this loss and earn more wins in the second half of the 2023 NFL season!
Indianapolis Colts: Gardner Minshew: C (Last week B-)
Gardner Minshew did not play a bad game against the visiting New Orleans Saints, but his team couldn’t get the win. Minshew completed 23 passes for 213 yards, threw two touchdowns against one interception, and rushed for three yards on one carry. Even with rookie Anthony Richardson out for the season, Minshew is filling in just fine. From week one he has been playing like a Colt’s starter, despite being a backup.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence: C+ (Last week B)
Trevor Lawrence didn’t play his best game in the Jaguars week eight 20-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. His performance was at best, average. Lawrence completed 24 passes for 292 yards, threw one touchdown against one interception, and was sacked three times. Despite the average performance, Lawrence got the win for the Jaguars and will improve his play against other opponents as the season heads to the halfway point!
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes: D (Last week A)
Patrick Mahomes looked like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning in Denver and took a loss on the road to a woeful Broncos team. Mahomes completed 24 passes for 248 yards, threw two costly interceptions and no touchdowns on the day, and rushed for 20 yards on three carries. This was not Mahomes’ best game as a pro, but he will bounce back for the rest of the season and will most likely secure more wins!
Las Vegas Raiders: Jimmy Garoppolo: D (Last week F)
Even with Jimmy Garoppolo back in the lineup, he and the Las Vegas Raiders struggled to make anything happen on offense in Detroit. Garoppolo completed 10 passes for 126 yards, threw one interception, no touchdowns, rushed for 12 yards on two carries, and was sacked six times. It was a very bad night for Jimmy G and the Raiders who truly need to regroup after their embarrassing Monday Night performance.
Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert: A- (Last week D+)
Justin Herbert had a massive renaissance of a game against the woeful Chicago Bears. Herbert completed 31 passes for 298 yards, threw three touchdowns against zero interceptions, wasn’t sacked at all, and rushed for one yard on one carry. Herbert turned his performance around in week eight after an abysmal performance in week seven. He needs to continue play like this as the season moves to the second half.
Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford D+ (Last week C)
So far, it’s been a roller coaster of a season for Matt Stafford. A lot of it isn’t his fault. Stafford completed 13 passes for 162 yards and threw one touchdown against one interception but suffered a thumb injury in the game during a two-point conversion. Brett Rypien came in and completed five passes for 42 yards and was sacked once. If Stafford is out long-term, this could hurt the Rams and impact the team negatively, moving forward. Hopefully this does not signal a repeat of last year.
Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa: B (Last week C)
Tua Tagovailoa rebounded from his week seven loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with a great performance at home against the New England Patriots. Tagovailoa completed 30 passes for 324 yards, threw three touchdowns against one interception, and rushed for eight yards on six carries. Tua continues to look great and help take the Dolphins to new heights as the season progresses.
Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins: B (Last week B+)
Kirk Cousins played a good game against the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury that cost him his season. Cousins did complete 23 passes for 274 yards, threw two touchdowns against no interceptions, and was sacked twice in the victory. Even though Cousins played well, the Achilles injury is going to impact the Vikings season in a negative way moving forward. The team now has to turn to backup Jaren Hill who completed three passes for 23 yards in the game. We’ll see how Hill performs for the rest of the season.
New England Patriots: Mac Jones: C (Last week B)
Mac Jones didn’t play badly in the Patriot’s week eight loss in South Beach. Jones completed 19 passes for 161 yards, threw two touchdowns against one interception on the day, and was sacked three times. Jones may not have played the best on the field but he can play decently enough to keep a mediocre Patriot team afloat.
New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr: B- (Last week C+)
Derek Carr came into Indianapolis and helped the Saints snap a two-game losing streak. Carr completed 19 passes for 310 yards, threw two touchdowns, and threw zero interceptions, but lost a fumble in the game. Even with a good game against the Colts, Carr needs to keep playing like he did in week eight if the Saints want to compete for the NFC South title.
New York Giants: Tyrod Taylor: D- (Last week C+)
It was a very bad day for all New York Giants quarterbacks. Tyrod Taylor completed four passes for eight yards and rushed for 33 yards on five carries before leaving the game with a rib injury and handing control of the offense to Tommy DeVito. DeVito completed two passes for negative one yard, rushed for 12 yards on four carries, and scored the Giant’s lone touchdown of the day. It was a very sloppy performance for both Giant’s quarterbacks who need to get healthy fast as the season nears the halfway point.
New York Jets: Zach Wilson: C- (Last week Bye Week)
Zach Wilson played a slightly better game than both Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito. Wilson completed 17 passes for 240 yards, threw one touchdown, and no interceptions, was sacked four times, and lost two fumbles. Wilson may not be the finest quarterback to watch, but he plays better than other backup quarterbacks in the league, thanks to the help of Robert Saleh’s coaching and some great playmakers on offense like Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson.
Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: A- (Last week A)
It was another productive day for Jalen Hurts as he completed 29 passes for 319 yards, and threw four touchdowns against no interceptions, but was sacked twice and lost a fumble. Hurts also rushed for six yards on four carries. Hurts is playing at an MVP-like level and can potentially take the Eagles to the Super Bowl and capture his first Lombardi Trophy!
Pittsburgh Steelers: Mitchell Trubisky: D (Last week C+)
Kenny Pickett was playing okay against the Jacksonville Jaguars but had to leave the game in the first half due to a rib injury. Pickett completed 10 passes for 73 yards and was sacked once. Mitchell Trubisky had to step in for his injured teammate. Trubisky completed 15 passes for 138 yards, threw one touchdown against two interceptions, and was sacked twice. The Steelers need to make sure Pickett recovers otherwise they’ll potentially drop games with Trubisky at the helm.
San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy: D+ (Last week D)
Brock Purdy once again dropped the ball for a third straight week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Purdy completed 22 passes for 365 yards, threw one touchdown against two interceptions, and rushed for 57 yards on six carries but was sacked twice in the game. Purdy needs to improve his game. He cannot continue to rely on Christian McCaffrey to bail him out in tough situations.
Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith: C- (Last week C+)
Geno Smith played an average game against a very physical Cleveland defense led by Jim Schwartz. Smith completed 23 passes for 254 yards, threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, and rushed for negative three yards on two carries. Smith may play a similar game to PJ Walker, but, he is more experienced in the NFL than Walker and can help the Seahawks secure more victories than Walker can do on the Browns!
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield: B- (Last week C)
Even though the Buccaneers lost, Baker Mayfield played a good game statistically. Mayfield completed 25 passes for 237 yards, threw two touchdowns, no interceptions, and rushed for 19 yards on three carries but was sacked three times. Mayfield can play some great football with the right pieces around him and solid coaching, but the Bucs couldn’t get the win in Western New York over the aggressive Buffalo Bills.
Tennessee Titans: Will Levis: A (Last week Bye Week)
Will Levis started the game after Tannehill suffered an ankle injury in the Titan’s week six loss to the Baltimore Ravens in London. Levis completed 19 passes for 238 yards and threw four touchdowns and no interceptions. Levis’s performance in week eight shows he is the new face of the franchise the Titans have been looking for, especially with Tannehill out for a while. It may be time for the Titans to completely move on from Tannehill and focus on Levis moving forward.
Washington Commanders: Sam Howell: B (Last week F+)
Sam Howell is a good quarterback but managed to play fair against arguably the best quarterback (Jalen Hurts) in the league. Howell completed 39 yards for 397 yards, threw four touchdowns against one interception, and was sacked once. Howell can be a great player in the league, but the rest of the Commander’s team is holding Howell back from moving forward and getting more wins on the season.
