With week six in the books, some quarterbacks had great games, other very talented quarterbacks, we all have come to know and admire, took a slight step back, and others who have come off their week five bye weeks didn’t play their best football of the season.
Here is where all 32 NFL Teams quarterbacks lineup after week 6 games:
Arizona Cardinals: Joshua Dobbs: D (Last week D+)
Week six saw a slight step back in Dobbs’ performance in the Cardinals 9-26 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Joshua Dobbs completed 21 passes for 235 yards, threw one interception, and was sacked twice. Dobbs has shown flashes of being a good leader, but after his performances these past two weeks, it’s hard to see him get another chance as a starter in the future. Dobbs can turn things around, but the competition will always get tougher and he could potentially regress. Only time will tell.
Atlanta Falcons: Desmond Ridder: D (Last week B-)
Desmond Ridder is a thumbs up/ thumbs down kind of player, depending on the game. He can either win when it matters or fall flat in dire situations. Ridder felt stale with 28 completions for 307 yards, threw two touchdowns, threw three interceptions, and was sacked three times in the Falcons week six loss to the Washington Commanders. Ridder can be a leader, but similar to how the Saints and Buccaneers are playing this season, he can fall flat in the tough plays!
Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson: B+ (Last week C-)

Lamar Jackson had a massive improvement from his week five performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a major week six victory over the Tennessee Titans. Jackson completed 21 passes for 223 yards, threw a touchdown and an interception in the victory as well as rushed for 62 yards on 13 carries. Jackson is a resilient quarterback who can potentially lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl- depending on how the Ravens finish the 2023 season.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen: B (Last week B-)
Josh Allen and company had a very slow start to the game as the Bills didn’t make any noise until the fourth quarter of the game. Allen did complete 19 passes for 169 yards, threw two touchdowns, one interception, and was not sacked in the entire game. Allen is so far the face of the AFC East and led the Bills to a comeback from behind to defeat the New York Giants in week six on Sunday Night Football.
Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young: C+ (Last week D-)
Rookie quarterback Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers may have lost to the Miami Dolphins, but Young played a good game. He completed 23 passes for 217 yards, threw one touchdown, and was sacked four times. From this week six loss, Young will try to get the team onto a winning path, but the Panthers defense gave the game away to the Miami Dolphins in the loss for Carolina.
Chicago Bears: Justin Fields: F (Last week B)
Justin Fields took a massive step back against the Minnesota Vikings as he completed six passes for 58 yards and threw an interception. Fields left the game with an injury to his hand and was replaced by Tyson Bagent who completed 10 passes for 83 yards, threw an interception, rushed for four yards on two carries, and scored a rushing touchdown. Fields will be out for some time and Bagent is a decent backup who can help the Bears. It is going to be a challenge for Bagent to turn thing around and bring in more wins for the Bears.
Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow B+ (Last week B-)
Joe Burrow is continuing to wake up as he continues to look more like the quarterback that led the Bengals to back-to-back AFC North Championships. Burrow completed 24 passes for 185 yards, threw two touchdowns and an interception in the Bengals 17-13 victory over the Seahawks. If Burrow continues to play like this, the Bengals can potentially win the AFC North title for a third straight season and cause some serious damage in the 2023 playoffs!
Cleveland Browns: PJ Walker: D (Last week Bye Week)
PJ Walker filled in for an injured Deshaun Watson in the Browns stunning week six 19-17 upset victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Walker completed 18 passes for 192 yards, threw two interceptions, and no touchdowns all game. Walker is not the answer for the Browns if they want to succeed in the AFC North. Walker got lucky with Kareem Hunt and Dustin Hopkins bailing him out. Watson should be returning to play this season and likely will be able to lead the Browns to a few more wins.
Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott: B (Last week F)
Prescott came back in a major way in the Cowboys 20-17 Monday Night Football victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. After throwing three interceptions in Dallas’ week five loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Prescott threw one touchdown and zero interceptions. Prescott completed 21 passes for 272 yards and threw one touchdown to Brandin Cooks, but was also sacked five times. Prescott knows how to turn things around after ugly losses and looked like a true pocket passer when the lights shine their brightest!
Denver Broncos: Russell Wilson: D- (Last week C-)
Russell Wilson took a step back against the Kansas City Chiefs despite completing 13 passes for 95 yards, threw one touchdown but threw two costly interceptions which hurt the Bronco’s chances of winning the game, and was sacked four times in the contest. This game is another clear indication that the Russell Wilson experiment isn’t the Bronco’s answer to returning to success.
Detroit Lions: Jared Goff: A (Last week A)
Goff is continuing to have a career renaissance with the Detroit Lions as they traveled to central Florida and defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-6 in week six. Goff completed 30 passes for 353 yards, threw two touchdowns, no interceptions, and was sacked three times. Goff is an excellent leader for the new look Lions as they can potentially dominate the NFC North for years to come if he continues to perform like he did in week’s five and six!
Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love: Bye Week (Last week F)
Jordan Love is going to the be the face of the Packers franchise for years to come. However, he needs to turn things around if he wants to be an elite quarterback similar to his predecessors in Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.
Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud: B (Last week B-)
C.J. Stroud played a fair game against the New Orleans Saints. He completed 13 passes for 27 yards, threw touchdowns, one interception and was sacked twice in the Texans week six 13-20 victory. Stroud can potentially be a Rookie of the Year candidate if he continues to play the way he has been playing all season. Stroud is a great leader and an even better quarterback to watch each and every week!
Indianapolis Colts: Gardner Minshew: D- (Last week B-)
Gardner Minshew was returned to reality in the Colts week six loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He completed 33 passes for 329 yards, threw one touchdown, threw three interceptions, and was sacked three times. With starting rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson potentially choosing season ending surgery to repair a shoulder injury, Minshew is going to have a brutal time when he goes up against teams with the tough defenses that can chew through the passing game.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence: B (Last week B-)
It was all business for the third-year starter Trevor Lawrence in the Jaguars week six victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Lawrence completed 20 passes for 181 yards, threw two touchdowns, one interception, and was sacked three times. Lawrence also rushed for 15 yards on three carries in the week six victory. Lawrence is continuing to improve and make sure everyone else on the Jaguars offense follows suit and become a relevant franchise that is here to stay in the AFC South.
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes: B+ (Last week B+)
Patrick Mahomes played a good game and led the Chiefs to victory over the Broncos. He completed 30 passes for 306 yards, threw a touchdown and one interception. Mahomes is the face of the NFL, but there will be more games where Mahomes will need to prove he’s the best quarterback in the league. It’s still possible the Chiefs can make it back to the Super Bowl, but only time will tell how Mahomes will perform the rest of the season.
What changes would you make to our quarterback rankings?
Las Vegas Raiders: Jimmy Garoppolo C+ (Last week B)
Jimmy G’s best days may be behind him, but he still is a reliable game manager as he helped the Raiders secure their week six 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots. Garoppolo completed 14 passes for 162 yards, threw a touchdown, one interception, and was not sacked the entire game. Garoppolo surely felt great with the nice win he had against the team that originally drafted him. Garoppolo needs to step up his play in order for the Raiders to be relevant for a potential playoff spot, especially against tougher competition in the upcoming weeks.
Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert B- (Last week Bye week)
Herbert is a great quarterback to watch and root for whether people are Chargers fans or not. Herbert completed 22 passes for 227 yards, threw two touchdowns and one game-ending interception to Stephon Gilmore which stings a lot, especially when a team is trying to come back from behind in the very last seconds of the game. Herbert will move on from this nail biting loss and secure more wins for the Chargers going forward!
Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford: B (Last week B-)
Matthew Stafford is having a rebound season so far after dealing with an injury plagued season last year. Stafford completed 15 passes for 226 yards, threw one touchdown and was sacked three times. Stafford is a great leader for the Rams and so far has had a productive 2023 season potentially leading the Rams into the playoffs- for the first time since they won Super Bowl 56!
Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa: A (Last week B-)
Tagovailoa had an incredible game against a struggling Carolina Panthers defense. He completed 21 passes for 262 yards, threw three touchdowns, no interceptions and was not sacked the entire game. If Tagovailoa continues to play the way he played in week six, he could be a potential NFL MVP Candidate.
Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins: B (Last week C)
Kirk Cousins is a good quarterback and in the Vikings week six victory over the Chicago Bears shows he still can get the job done for Minnesota. Cousins completed 21 passes for 181 yards and threw one touchdown in the victory. Cousins may not be with Minnesota next season, only time will tell. He has shown that he can be a leader no matter what the situation is for any NFL team!
New England Patriots: Mac Jones: D- (Last week F)
Jones took a slight step up for the Patriots even though his week six performance was not great. Jones completed 24 passes for 200 yards, threw one interception, no touchdowns, and was sacked three times. Jones is struggling, and his time as an NFL starter is wafting away in the wind. If Jones continues to play the same game, he has so far this season, he’s going to be a backup quarterback either on the Patriots or another team that needs his reliability to back up their starter!
New Orleans Saints: Derek Carr C (Last week A-)
Carr took a bit of a step back against the Houston Texans in the Saints week six 13-20 loss. Carr completed 32 passes for 353 yards, threw one touchdown, one interception, and was sacked twice. Carr is a good quarterback at best, not the best, but a good quarterback who can get the job done for your team judging from his week six performance. He also went up against a much more talented defensive team in the Houston Texans as opposed to the struggling New England Patriots in week five. Carr will be just fine as the Saints can and will turn it around for the following weeks!
New York Giants: Tyrod Taylor: D+ (Last week F)
Tyrod Taylor stepped in to a very close heartbreaking week six loss for the New York Giants in Buffalo on Sunday Night Football. Taylor completed 24 passes for 200 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and was only sacked three times. Taylor played okay, but could’ve done more for the Giants if it wasn’t for that weak offensive line making game-changing plays very hard. At the very end of the game, Taylor almost got Darrell Waller a game-ending touchdown, but couldn’t make it happen thanks to the Buffalo Bills defense. The Giants need to fix that offensive line for any quarterback the Giants have, so the QB will be able make plays with more time to spare.
New York Jets: Zach Wilson: C- (Last week D+)
Zach Wilson had a slight step up from his week five performance in Denver with an okay performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. Wilson completed 19 passes for 186 yards, threw no touchdowns or interceptions, and was sacked five times. Wilson may be a backup at this point in his career, but if he wants to be a true leader, he needs to step up his game to match the play that the Jets defense has been delivering all season long. Wilson can lead, whether it’s with the Jets for the rest of the season or with another quarterback needy team in the future!
Pittsburgh Steelers: Kenny Pickett: Bye Week (Last week C)
Pickett can be a good quarterback in the league, he needs to step it up more in divisional challenges, but needs more young and Pro Bowl like talent around him similar to his predecessor Ben Roethlisberger had during his playing days for the Steel City.
Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts: D (Last week B-)
Jalen Hurts took a massive step back as the Eagles fell to the New York Jets 14-20 in week six. Hurts completed 28 passes for 280 yards, threw one touchdown against three interceptions, and was sacked twice. The Jets defense truly put a ton of pressure on Hurts and showed the NFL that he is human after all. Hurts will no doubt rebound quickly from this loss as the season continues. If Hurts improves from this loss, he can potentially be an NFL MVP Candidate.
San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy: C- (Last week A)
Brock Purdy and the 49ers were stunned on the road in Cleveland as they lost 17-19. Purdy completed 12 passes for 125 yards, threw one touchdown, and one interception in the upset loss. Purdy will bounce back, but this loss was a complete surprise because PJ Walker on the Browns played so much worse than Purdy- even though the Browns got the win.
Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith: F (Last week Bye week)
Geno Smith struggled against the Cincinnati Bengals defense in the Seahawks week six 17-13 loss. Smith completed 27 passes for 323 yards, threw two interceptions, and no touchdowns in the loss. Smith also rushed for 20 yards on four carries. Smith needs to change it up in order for him to have a repeat of last year’s playoff appearance. This game reminded fans of how Smith played when he was on the New York Jets. Hopefully, he will rebound for the weeks to come!
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Baker Mayfield: D (Last week Bye week)
Baker Mayfield may have left his talent back at the Cotton Bowl during his week five bye week appearance on ESPN’s College Gameday because he was disappointing in the Bucs 6-20 week six loss to the Detroit Lions. Mayfield completed 19 passes for 206 yards, threw an interception and was sacked once in the game. Mayfield has shown us flashes of being a leader in Tampa. Week six was against an extremely talented Detroit Lions team that will potentially make a lot of noise in the playoffs. No doubt, Mayfield will regain his form and flash and get the Bucs back on track.
Tennessee Titans: Ryan Tannehill: F (Last week D)
Tannehill did not have a great game across the pond as he completed eight passes for 76 yards, threw one interception and threw no touchdowns all game. Tannehill left the game early with an ankle injury and could potentially miss some serious time. The Titans turned to backup Malik Willis who completed four passes for 74 yards. The Titans potentially will move on from Tannehill after the 2023 season, but could find a way to keep him around depending on how he and the team performs for the rest of the season. Willis and Levis will be on the bench waiting for their chance to show they can be the next leaders in Tennessee!
Washington Commanders: Sam Howell: A (Last week C-)
Howell had a solid rebound game as he completed 14 passes for 151 yards and threw three touchdowns, threw no interceptions and was sacked five times. Howell is a leader for the Commanders through the tough times. Howell has shown he has the aptitude to get the Commanders the necessary wins for the team to potentially be a dark horse playoff team!
