New York Giants head coach Joe Judge wanted to send a message to the rest of the team that them acting out won’t be tolerated.
Judge had a special kind of punishment in order for wide receiver Golden Tate during the team’s Friday practice.
Tate’s wife, Elise, was critical of the team during the Giants’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, taking to Instagram to chastise the team for failing to get her husband the ball and allowing him to make plays. Tate did the same thing during the game when he screamed into the camera to get him the ball after scoring a TD.
Judge forced Tate to play the role of Washington Football Team star wideout Terry McLaurin as part of the scout team on Friday.
The veteran has just 22 receptions for 226 yards through the team’s first seven games.
Judge tried to downplay the incident when asked about it on Wednesday.

“I spoke with Golden at length today. We’re dealing internally with a lot of things,” Judge said. “He’s not going to be at the walkthrough today, but he’ll be back in the building and practicing with us for the remainder of the week. it will be business as usual.”
