Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen on Friday announced they are divorcing after 13 years of marriage. Even though the signs were there, it still came as a shock that it happened and that it went through so quickly.
Bündchen provided a statement after it was done.
“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve,” she wrote. “The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”
The two had been “living separately,” which is why the next report isn’t as shocking.
According to PEOPLE, the supermodel is doing just fine being without Brady, because she has had enough practice doing that with him playing football for so many years.
“With the divorce, “Gisele is dealing with issues that have been plaguing her for a long time,” a source close to Bündchen tells PEOPLE.
The source explains that the split from Brady, 45, “was hard at first” for Bündchen, 42, “but enough time has passed that she is settling in.”
The mother-of-two “has lived her own life for years while Tom played football so she is not afraid to do things by herself.”
The report added Bündchen has a commitment as a mom. “Gisele is great with her children and radiates happiness when either one or both are around,” the source said, adding that “nothing is more important” than her kids’ happiness.

The 45-year-old had previously retired from the NFL in February, only to later reverse that decision 45 days later. He would then take an 11-day leave of absence from training camp in August to “deal with personal things,” according to his head coach Todd Bowles.
In an interview with Elle magazine, Bundchen said she had “concerns” about her husband returning to the field.
“This is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” Bündchen told the publication. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”
For Brady, he can now fully focus on his job as the Tampa Bay Bucs are now in second place in their division with a 3-5 record. The Bucs lost 27-16 to the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday night.
With the loss, the Bucs are off to their worst start since 2018. Tampa has a lengthy history of bad football, but not since Brady came to town.
The Bucs are struggling, but the division is so bad that they remain firmly in the mix for a playoff berth. Things don’t get easier for the Bucs ahead after their bye week. They face the Rams and Seahawks, both of whom are tough opponents.
