Gisele Bundchen shed light on her relationship with Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Tom Brady during an interview with Elle magazine, which came weeks before the turmoil of their marriage became public.
The interview was conducted before Brady left the Bucs last month on a mysterious 11-day absence from training camp.
“Obviously, I have my concerns — this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” Bundchen said in the article published Tuesday. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for (them). He needs to follow his joy, too.”
The 42-year-old declined to comment on reports of a potential rift with Brady when the magazine followed up with her this month. She did note that her depiction as being “desperate” for Brady to retire is “sexist.”
After losing in the playoffs last year, Brady retired after the season. However, he changed his mind and made his way back to the Bucs.
“I haven’t had a Christmas in 23 years and I haven’t had a Thanksgiving in 23 years,” Brady said on the “Let’s Go!” podcast. “I haven’t celebrated birthdays with people that I care about that are, you know, born from August to late January. And you know, I’m not able to be at funerals and I’m not able to be at weddings.
“I think there comes a point in your life where you say, ‘You know what? I had my fill and it’s enough and time to go on, to move into other parts of life.’”
