Hearing the news of Dwayne Haskins’ untimely passing was already enough to make most decent NFL fans’ stomachs turn. Then Gil Brandt came along and sent us all into full-on vomit mode with his disgusting take on the former first-round pick.
Brandt was on NFL Radio this morning when he was asked about his thoughts on Haskins’ tragic death — as Brandt apparently got to know the Pittsburgh Steelers QB back when he was a highly-touted prospect out of Ohio State.
Apparently Brandt didn’t think much of Haskins, because rather than say something nice about the 24-year-old who just lost his life, the NFL analyst and former executive proceeded to bash the young man.
While speaking about Haskins, Brandt made some ridiculously uncalled-for statements. At one point, he claimed that Haskins “was a guy that was living to be dead.” He also seemed to suggest that Haskins’ immaturity was to blame for his death when he said, “Maybe if he stayed in school a year he wouldn’t do silly things [like] jogging on a highway.”
Have a listen:
It has since been reported that Haskins was struck by a dump truck after leaving his vehicle on a highway and attempting to cross lanes. Some have claimed that he had run out of gas, although that has yet to be confirmed.

As for Brandt, it wouldn’t surprise us to see the NFL drop him from their team. Comments like this are exactly what you’d expect from an out-of-touch 90-year-old. After hearing him spew crap like this, I think it’s quite clear that the NFL world could do without his analysis.
