Unfortunate news for New York Giants fans. Rookie Wide Receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton has torn his ACL and is out for the season.
The promising rookie missed all of the pre-season with injuries. The undrafted free agent was signed by the Giants this offseason after posting impressive numbers at the combine.
The 6’4” receiver turned heads with a 4.38 40 yard dash. He quickly became a fan favorite for the Giants as his blazing speed and physical presence. He was seen as a major factor in training camp before the newly diagnosed ACL tear abruptly ended his season.
Ford-Wheaton made a name for himself during his time at West Virginia University, where he made a historic catch against Iowa State.
The Giants were looking forward to the physical phenom as they look for weapons for Quarterback Daniel Jones. The Giants needed downfield threats, and Ford-Wheaton had the profile of a Wide Receiver 1.
New York is in the mix for a postseason berth this season, with a loaded offense and a stout defense. New York last won a Superbowl in 2012 vs the New England Patriots and the team has struggled to make the postseason for the better part of a decade.
