New York Giants fans had hope going into the 2019 season, as they patiently waited to see who the franchise would bring in to help with the current squad. Then, they got a shot to the gut when the team suddenly and shockingly traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns.
On top of that, the team elected to not franchise tag Landon Collins, paving the way for him to sign with Division rival Washington Redskins.
Now, they are left with a stud in RB Saquon Barkley and 38-year-old QB Eli Manning who suddenly doesn’t have the dynamic weapon in the outfield.
Giants owner John Mara spoke about that decision over the weekend dring the NFL owners meetings and he revealed his grandchildren were “sobbing uncontrollably” when he told them the news of OBJ getting traded and some of them took it even further by giving him the silent treatment.
What makes the decision so bad is Mara stating like a week before that he would not have signed Odell to an extension just to trade him, only to do exactly what he stated he wouldn’t do.
Even Madden wouldn’t approve of that trade and that’s saying something.
