The New York Giants have made a major announcement pertaining to their uniforms for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
The team will be bringing their classic blue uniforms from the 1980s and 1990s back for two “Legacy Games” during the campaign, with one of those fixtures set for Sunday, October 22 against the New York Jets at the MetLife Stadium and the other scheduled to take place on December 11, when they will play the Green Bay Packers.
Said uniforms appeared on two occasions last season, once when they beat the Chicago Bears in Week 4, as well as when they played to a draw with the Washington Commanders on December 4.
Worn by Giants players from 1980-99, the latest iteration includes the navy helmet, white facemask, scarlet red stripe, classic numbers, and side decals. The jerseys feature red and blue trim while the pants bear a color palette from said era.
The Giants have also lined the inside of the collar with the phrase, “Once a Giant, Always a Giant,” to honor late owner Wellington Mara.
The return of the uniform marks the launch of the Giants’ Legacy Games, with MetLife Stadium set for throwback endzone designs and wall wraps around the field to give it that old feel.
