The New York Giants have cut veteran Running Back James Robinson, as reported by Dov Kleiman.
The 4th year running back gets cut from his second team this season after spending the majority of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he set the record for most scrimmage yards from an undrafted player.
This has been a rough offseason for Robinson, who initially signed a 2 year contract worth $8 million with the New England Patriots, before he was released due to a failed physical. He would go on to sign with the Giants, as they dealt with their in house issues with star running back Saquan Barkley.
Robinson ran for over a 1,000 yards in his rookie campaign, but has seen his stats drop year by year due to injuries and lack of repetitions. After spending two years in Jacksonville, he was traded in his 3rd season before being traded to the New York Jets in 2022, where he played 4 games and didn’t start.
The Giants had a set running back rotation, especially with Barkley signing their $11 million offer during training camp. New York has eyes on the divisional crown this season, as the team builds their future around Quarterback Daniel Jones
In 3 complete seasons, Robinson has 23 all purpose touchdowns, 18 rushing and 5 receiving. Though cut, his talent and repetitions as a starter will help him earn his spot on a team.
