The Buffalo Bills are signing a veteran offensive tackle in free agency after hosting him on Tuesday.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Germain Ifedi is set to become part of the 53-man squad in Buffalo ahead of the 2023 NFL season, with the team apparently keen on bolstering options for its offensive line.
The 29-year-old was selected out of the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks and started 13 games at right guard in his rookie season. He played three more seasons with the team, starting 47 games, all at right tackle.
Ifedi allowed 21 sacks and committed 52 penalties in his four seasons with the Seahawks and, in 2017, recorded a league-leading 19 penalties at RT.
He joined the Chicago Bears in 2020, starting all 16 games while splitting time between right guard and right tackle. The following season, Ifedi started seven out of the nine games he played, also spending time on the injured reserve because of a knee injury.
The former Texas A&M OL showed remarkable improvement in Chicago as he allowed just four sacks and committed nine penalties.
