Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens isn’t even trying to keep his unhappiness and frustration with the organization to himself.
Pickens had a quiet night in Pittsburgh’s sloppy 20-16 home win against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night, recording just two receptions for -1 yards. Despite the Steeler victory, Pickens took to Instagram to express his dissatisfaction with the club.
As you can see in the screenshot below (courtesy of @Blitz_Burgh), Pickens posted a message that read” Free me”.
Not only that, but others noted that Pickens has removed all Steeler references and pictures from his Instagram page. The only photo/video post on his Instagram is a highlight package of his college days that was uploaded in 2020.
As well, Pickens has unfollowed both head coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Kenny Pickett on Instagram. If you search through the accounts that Pickens follows, you won’t find Tomlin nor Pickett.

Pickens nearly caught a touchdown pass from Pickett in the third quarter, but it was ruled incomplete after he just barely failed to get the second foot down.
Pickens’ role has, as expected, reduced following the return of Steelers’ WR1 Diontae Johnson. That said, the second-year wideout is still on pace to easily surpass the stellar numbers he put up as a rookie last year (52 catches, 801 yards, four touchdowns).
Through eight games, Pickens has 30 catches for 521 yards and three touchdowns. Despite that, he’s clearly unhappy with the way the Steelers are using him, and it’s a storyline to follow closely in the coming weeks.
