San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had some tongue-in-cheek advice for the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
The Bears have the No. 1 overall pick this year and everyone has an opinion on what they should do with it. They could opt to reset at quarterback and draft Caleb Williams or trade it for multiple picks and players.
Whatever they opt to do remains to be seen, but Kittle has advised them to stick with Fields.
The TE was speaking to reporters on Super Bowl opening night when he was asked what he thinks they should do.
“Wow, this is putting me on the spot — all of Chicago is listening to this,” he replied. “What the Bears should do is trade back as many picks as they can and build around a guy (Justin Fields) they’ve been trying to build around.
“Give the guy some actual options — he has options, but help him out as much as you possibly can. Build him up as big as you can and trust the kid.”
The Bears might not take kindly to this as Kittle appears to have suggested that their receivers suck. But they just might end up doing exactly what he says; we’ll just have to wait and see.
