George Kittle summed up the 49ers’ final game of the year with a brutally honest assessment following Sunday’s 31–7 loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship game.
The star tight end contributed three catches for 32 yards, but it could’ve been much better if the team did not have so many injuries to their QBs at the wrong time. Quarterback Brock Purdy suffered an early-game elbow injury and then backup Josh Johnson struggled mightily prior to exiting the game with a concussion.
Purdy was forced back into the game and the 49ers could only run the ball for the rest of the game.
After the game, Kittle lamented over his team’s quarterback woes by describing the tough loss as only he can.
“How does it feel to lose an NFC Championship game because I don’t have a quarterback? Pretty sh***y.”

Winners of their last 12 games entering Sunday, the 49ers had been one of the NFL’s best teams since the seventh-round rookie QB took over for the injured Jimmy Garoppolo after Week 12.
This was a tough way to watch their season come to an end. Purdy suffered his first loss, but it only came as a result of a first-quarter injury.
Josh Johnson went 7-of-13 for 74 yards while taking two sacks before eventually getting ruled out after sustaining a concussion. Purdy finished the game 4-of-4 for 23 yards.
During the regular season, Purdy logged 1,374 yards, 13 TDs ,and four interceptions. His performance makes things a little bit easier on the team on what they will do with their QB situation.
