George Kittle is a man who loves history.
The San Francisco 49ers erased a 17-point deficit on Sunday night to advance to the Super Bowl. George Kittle had the perfect comments to sum up the legendary comeback by citing a perfect meme.
Kittle was interviewed by FOX’s Michael Strahan after the 49ers came back to beat the Detroit Lions 34-31 in the NFC Championship Game and the star tight end started with, “They had us in the first half, not gonna lie.”
For the uncultured, the “they had us in the first half” meme came from a viral 2014 interview with an enthusiastic Texas high school football player.
Apollos Hester was the subject of the original interview, an interview that was eventually turned into a meme that has been shared across social media for ten years now.
