It is no secret that football players go through medical hell playing in a football game every single week throughout the season. The pain they suffer gets only worse when every team has to play on a Thursday.
Now, with the NFL bringing a second Thursday Night game for all teams, not everyone is happy. 49ers’ George Kittle is one of those people. He used a rather grim picture to describe what happens when he gets hit on the field.
Kittle reacted to the Thursday pro football expansion by describing the painful process it takes for him to sometimes just one play game.
“I’m in multiple car accidents every Sunday … I’ve had games where I hyper-extended my knee, that’s gonna affect your season. Or you burst a bursa sac in your knee. That’s going to be there for several weeks. And if you get lucky, you don’t have to deal with that stuff. It’s a little bit better, but you’re still getting into these car accidents. Really, now how I see it is, if I’m not doing football, I’m doing recovery.”
“On Mondays, I have to move, otherwise you get very stiff and it hurts more. Tuesdays are very hard, especially if we’re traveling back from another city. Thursday through Friday is when I start to feel like me again and it gets worse as the season goes on. If I’m not playing, I’m recovering,” said the man who is considered one of the best tight ends in the league.

Kittle is not the first player to make such a comparison. Five years ago, Tom Brady made an almost similar comparison on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’. Brady had previously called a football game “a scheduled car crash”, and doubled down on his statement during the show.
“A while back I was in a car accident and it wasn’t as bad as getting hit on the field,” said Tom Brady.
It seems player safety is no longer a priority in the NFL.
George Kittle seems to be fine this offseason as he got invloved in a match between The Miz and Pat McAfee on the first night of WrestleMania 39 on Saturday. He was sitting ringside with his wife when The Miz came over to talk trash to the superstar tight end.
After Kittle dismissed him, The Miz pushed Kittle back down onto his seat. Kittle then removed his jacket and jumped over the barrier. He then delivered a clothesline to the wrestler. That allowed McAfee to do a flip onto The Miz and take him out. McAfee would win the match and he and Kittle would celebrate in the ring.
