Anthony Richardson gave an excellent account of himself at the NFL Scouting Combine on the weekend and is now rumored to be a potential No. 1 overall pick.
The former Gators quarterback set two records at the Combine this past Saturday, posting a vertical jump of 40.5 inches and 10ft 9in the broad jump. He also ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds, the fourth-fastest time since 2003.
Richardson, who stands at 6ft 4in and weighs 244lbs, showed remarkable athleticism, and the possibility of him going No. 1 can no longer be ruled out.
The QB’s performance saw him make a significant climb up the projections and sportsbooks have him as a top pick as well, with BetMGM only listing Bryce Young ahead of him at -185. Richardson is +300 to get drafted as the first overall pick in 2023 despite the questions over his passing accuracy.
While he’s as athletic as it gets and has the perfect build to be a successful signal-caller in the NFL, Richardson showed some inconsistency playing for the University of Florida in 2022. He was the program’s backup QB as a redshirt freshman in 2021 but some highlight-reel-worthy plays saw him gain popularity ahead of his becoming a starter the following year.
