Garrett Wilson thought his team just had a new quarterback.
Aaron Rodgers, who continued to hold the NFL hostage with his decision, had not officially made his announcement regarding retirement or a return to play. However, a report from well-known pundit Trey Wingo got the juices flowing.
“Hearing Rodgers to the Jets is done,” Wingo tweeted.
Wilson then took to Twitter and wrote: “I can finally enjoy my (vacation) now.”
The Offensive Rookie of the Year quickly added: “Y’all shud see this smile on me (right now).”
Wilson was responding to reporter Dov Kleiman sharing the Wingo news, but hours later, he realized that no deal was actually done.
“I ain’t gon fake it, I thought ‘Dov’ bro tweet was the news break I was waiting for… smh,” Wilson wrote. “Idk anything. Sorry [about] that.”

Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter both followed up on Wingo’s post and said nothing official has happened on the Rodgers front.
The Jets are praying he comes through after Jimmy g took his talent to the Las Vegas Raiders. They have now lost out on signing the former 49ers QB as well as Derek Carr, who went and signed with the Saints.
This is going to be a major disappointment if Rodgers decides to retire are head back to Green Bay.
It seems as if Wilson and the rest of the NFL world are hoping a conclusion is near, too.
