Gardner Minshew does not like being No. 2.
Minshew, who completed 20 of 25 attempts for 242 yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia’s 33-18 win over the Jets, was beyond fired up after the contest and decided to take his great performance to the next level.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen said Sunday that Minshew went into Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni’s office after the Week 13 game and asked him man-to-man on what he needs to do to take the starting job from Jalen Hurts.
Sirianni told Minshew it is “not going to happen,” because the team was committed to Hurts.
Back in the offseason, the then-Jags QB was quite graphic in declaring his disinterest in accepting the No. 2 role in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback battle with Trevor Lawrence.
“I’ll say this man, in preparation for the competition, I haven’t taken a shit in weeks, because No. 2 isn’t an option for me,” Minshew said on the podcast, via Dov Kleiman. “No. 2 is not an option.”
