Gardner Minshew is enjoying the Super Bowl festivities in Miami for media week after he had a whirlwind season with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019.
The fan favorite made an appearance on the ESPN podcast Golic and Wingo on Wednesday and he showed how unafraid he was to show his love for the city of Jacksonville.
‘It’s been great, I think I kinda found my people in Jacksonville you know, just the right amount of white-trashiness for me,” he said. “So we’re having a great time down there and lovin’ it.”
Minshew was also asked about fan push-back after a losing season that left many Jaguar fans disappointed.
“If you start sucking obviously there’s going to be push-back…the mustache looks pretty stupid at that point.”
Minshew generated the highest passer rating (91.2) among all nine rookie quarterbacks who started at least one game this past 2019 season. His 21 TD passes ranked second in his class (behind only Daniel Jones’ 24) and his 3,271 passing yards ranked second behind only Kyler Murray (3,722).
