Earlier this week, Cleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson made it clear that he felt “unwanted” by the franchise after they went out and signed free agent RB Kareem Hunt. For that reason, he wanted to be traded, but also noted that the team put him on the trading block well before he asked to be traded.
Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens was asked during mandatory mini-camp about Duke’s trade request and he did not mince words as he explained how unmoved he is by it.
“He wants to be traded. I want to win the lottery. It doesn’t matter. He’s under contract. He’s a Cleveland Brown he’s going to be used to the best of his ability in what benefits the team,” Kitchens said to reporters today.

The Browns’ star quarterback, Baker Mayfield, also had some strong words for Duke.

“It’s not awkward. No. It’s self-inflicted. It is what it is. That’s not awkward for anybody else in this building. He’s got to do his job. He said he’s a professional, I hope he does his job,” he said.
Johnson is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he totaled 201 rushing yards on 40 carries.
