Fred Smoot, who spent nine seasons in the NFL as a cornerback for the Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings, has gotten in trouble with the law this week.
According to jail records obtained by TMZ, the former NFL cornerback was taken into custody at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. He was booked on misdemeanor failure to comply with support obligation, according to the report.
TMZ added that further details about his arrest were not made available.
The former second-round pick in the 2001 NFL Draft has been in trouble with the law many times before and that includes back in 2019 when multiple officers had to put him in handcuffs after he allegedly didn’t appear in court over minor traffic violations.
Smmot is most famously remembered as being involved in the 2005 Minnesota Vikings’ “Love Boat” scandal where players on the team hired prostitutes for a massive sex party on the water. He later pled guilty to disorderly conduct and being a public nuisance on a watercraft stemming from the incident.
The 44-year-old racked up 104 starts and 21 interceptions over the course of his fruitful career.
