Aaron Rodgers has hopes of returning to play this season. And, according to FOX’s Jay Glazer, he will suit up as long as he’s able to whether or not the New York Jets are in contention for the playoffs.
It was previously reported that the quarterback would not attempt an early comeback if there was nothing to play for on the back of his early-season Achilles injury, but Glazer has since made claims of him returning no matter what the situation is.
“I was told originally, look, if they’re out of playoff contention then Aaron’s probably not going to try and come back. Well that changed this past week,” the journalist said on FOX this Thursday. “I think Aaron, even if they’re out of it, still wants to show he was able to come back faster from that Achilles tear, faster than pretty much any quarterback ever.”
Rodgers remains confident he can make what would be an unprecedented return and actually play this season, having reiterated his intentions on multiple occasions.
He has kept up appearances with the team as well, supporting them in whichever way he is able to while sidelined. The Jets are 4-6 ahead of an important game against the Miami Dolphins in the NFL’s first Black Friday game and feature the worst third-down conversion rate they’ve registered since 1991.
Tim Boyle is expected to start at QB for the team on Friday as Zach Wilson has been benched again.
